Suzanne Mah was a lecturer at the University of Alberta (U of A) and a lawyer. Mah was the first Canadian woman of Chinese descent to obtain a degree in the Faculty of Law at the U of A in 1976. During her career she was also a board member of the Alberta Cultural Heritage Fund, Commissioner of Human Rights, and lead lawyer against Principle Group which defrauded its shareholders.
Mah passed away from cancer at the age of 36. The Alberta Cancer Foundation holds the Annual Suzanne Mah Memorial Golf Tournament in her honour to raise funds. The Faculty of Law at the U of A also offers the Suzanne Mah Award in Law for a law student with an interest in human rights.
