Biographical history

Maimie Shaw Simpson was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She studied at the University of Alberta, earning BSc. (1922), MSc. of Arts (1925), and BEd. (1930) degrees. She was the President of the Alumni Association in 1923-1924. She taught at Garneau High School in Edmonton and later worked at the U of A as the Advisor for Women Students (1946), an Associate Professor of Education (1946), and the Dean of Women (1951). She retired in 1960 and lived in Victoria, BC. She was awarded the Alumni Golden Jubilee Award and the Maimie Shaw Simpson Trophy was named after her.

Scope and content

Accession consists of photographs of student groups, including casts of theatre productions (1918-1925), the Students' Council (1919-1920), and the Desmoines Delegation (1919-1920).
