Administrative history

The first success of the new troupe, L'auberge des morts subites, is a creation of Félix Leclerc : the piece brought in nearly 2000 spectators in a several Franco-Albertan centres.
Despite a large interest from the public, the survival of francophone theatre in Alberta became a challenge. With the goal of ensuring an active and long lasting presence, a salaried position for the artistic director of the TFE was created. Julien Forcier, the first to occupy the post, came into the role in August of 1970. Thereafter, several people succeeded him in the artistic direction of the TFE : France Levasseur-Ouimet, Jean Fortier, Claire Ifrane, Eve Marie and Pierre Bokor.
Throughout the existence of the TFE, it encountered many successes. During the 1973-1974 season, for the 300th anniversary of the death of Molière, more than 45 comedians put on Le Malade Imaginaire. In 1987, the play Le Bourgeois Gentleman is interpreted in front of its author, Antonine Maillet. In 1991, the troupe put on the Franco-Albertan creation Voulez-vous Danser? in addition to Comme on est différente, comme on se ressemble the next year, both by Jocelyne Verret. The last piece by the TFE would be La guerre des mots by France Levasseur-Ouimet, put on in the Spring of 1992.
