General note
Elementary Science was not treated as a separate curricular subject after the Enterprise was introduced in Alberta schools in 1936. The Programme of Studies for the Elementary School, Bulletin II (1942) stated: "there should be no rigid separation of science from health and social studies in the elementary grades". This placement of science within the Enterprise lasted until 1957 when a new program in elementary science was introduced in Alberta schools. Thus it will be noted in the bibliography that there are few science texts listed for the years between 1946 and 1957.
