The Office of Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) through residency and fellowship programs represents postgraduate medical education in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta (U of A). The PGME's mission is to produce caring and competent physicians who meet the needs of society and via research meet contribute to the development of new knowledge.

At the U of A PGME supervises over 60 residency training programs approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada and/or the College of Family Physicians of Canada. This is one of the requirements for obtaining a license to practice medicine in the province of Alberta. The PGME offers a range of clinical and research fellowships for both those who have completed Canadian certification and those from other countries.
