Binder containing the correspondence and notes of Mrs. E. L. (Andrea) Johnson relating to the establishment of the Red Cross Memorial Hospital in Arborg, Manitoba. Mrs. Johnson was the Chairman of the Community Hospital Committee and the hospital was opened in January 1950. The contents of the binder include:

  • Typed letters about funding, planning and decorating the hospital and its grounds;
  • Receipts;
  • Inspection reports;
  • Handwritten notes on loose leaf papers and in a small lined notebook published by Manitoba Pool Elevators;
  • Pamphlets advertising for Trilene and other commodities;
  • Pamphlet explaining how to run a charity street fair, published by the Country Gentlewoman League, 1949;
  • Statistical report of the hospital as of Dec 31, 1953;
  • List of hospital expenditures in 1953;
  • Province of Manitoba septic tank construction standards and plans;
  • Report of the Women’s Work Committee for 1948;
  • Building contract bids.
