17. Miscellaneous:
A) Full page newspaper spread containing 4 pages taken from the Edmonton Journal, dated March 12, 1957. Contains multiple headings, one on the first page titled: “Hinman Says Dividend No Inflation Threat,” which concern’s the Social Credit government’s decision to issue dividends to citizens. The second page contains a few headings pertaining to the SC party, including letters to the editor complaining about the government’s dividend decision.
B) 10.5 x 16 cm newspaper article without a title. Features a b&w photograph of a man wearing glasses, captioned: “Charles Yuill.” Article is regarding campaign promotion and the platform of Charles Yuill.
C) 34.5 x 12.3 cm newspaper article from the Edmonton Journal, dated December 27, 1985, titled: “History books closing on Alberta’s Socreds.” Article contains one b&w photograph on the right side of a man talking, captioned: “Leader Martin Hattersly...Socreds merge with WCC.”
D) 4.9 x 13.7 cm newspaper article titled: “New SC Board Meeting in City.”
E) 15.5 x 58.2 cm newspaper article from The Albertan Editorial Page, dated March 11, 1957. Titled: “One Good Turn Deserves Another.” Article is regarding the payment of dividends to citizens.
F) 19.2 x 28.5 cm newspaper article titled: “’Funny-Money Days Here Now’ See Opportunity For Social Credit.” Article contains one b&W photograph depicting four women wearing hats. The caption is missing parts in the middle, but the photograph is credited to Goertz Studios. Article is in poor condition, with a large section ripped from the middle of the article.
G) 43.4 x 27.8 cm double-sided article taken from a magazine. One side is titled: “Crowd Overflowed ‘Alberta Hall’” and contains four b&W photographs bordered in red. Caption states: “Scenes here show some of the principals in the night’s ceremonies. 1. Hon. A. J. Hooke, senior cabinet member, reminisced of earlier years in the provincial government. 2. A part of the audience which overflowed the hall. 3. Mrs. Marian Smith, president S.C. Women’s Auxiliaries, outlined action plans. 4. Premier Manning saw in the new headquarters the ‘tools’ to aid in the task of carrying Social Credit’s plans and ideals to broader fields.” Photos credited to Laddie Ponich Studios. The opposite side contains an article titled: “New Milestone Passed In League’s Anniversary Year.” Features a b&w photograph in the bottom right corner depicting Premier Manning and his wife in the new league office. Article also contains a smaller article on the Bank of Canada.
H) 17.5 x 15 cm article titled: “Banking system needs to change to end fractional reserve system.” Contains one b&w cartoon drawing of a seated man, arm outstretched, with a ring through his nose attached to a string being pulled by a disembodied hand through a note of currency. Article is concerning a recent decision by the court in favor of Principal Trust and its effect on John and Sylvia Malik. Article was written by F. Peter Young, director MIDAS Reform of Alberta, Sherwood Park.
I) 22.5x10.3 cm newspaper article from the Edmonton Journal titled: “Made-in-Alta. Medicare suggested.” Written by Dene Creswell. Has a handwritten note on the top right giving a date of May 30, 1984.
J) 37.2 x 18.2 cm newspaper article from the Edmonton Journal, dated October 4, 1968, titled: “Cancer Institute Opened.” Contains a large b&W photograph on the left side of three seated men and one man standing, reading from a large sheet of paper. Caption states: “Dr. J. Donovan Ross Pays Tribute…to Dr. W. W. Cross, right, at institute opening.” Article written by Bob Bell. A handwritten note on the top left dates the article to 1968 as well.
K) 40.1 x 59.6 cm newspaper article from The Albertan, dated December 1, 1955. Full-page spread taken from the front page. Contains multiple articles. Main heading states: “Social Credit Session Urges Direct Individual Dividends.” Article continues on back side of page. Article is heavily damaged and missing parts of text.
