Dr. Peter J. Miller was born on February 15, 1934. He completed a linguistics course in Russian at Cambridge University while serving in the Royal Air Force, before attending the London School of Economics to obtain a Bachelor of Science. Miller decided to become a teacher and received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Leeds, in England. He relocated to Alberta, Canada to attend the University of Alberta (U of A) where he completed his Masters and Ph.D in Education.
After Miller obtained his Ph.D. he became the Head of the Department of Education Foundations and later Dean of Students at the U of A. Miller retired in 1966 and moved to Qualicum Beach, British Columbia.
Miller was married to Angela, with whom he had four children. Miller passed away on January 29, 2011 from cancer.
