General note
On back cover recto: "For the most part this portrayal of the march west is historically accurate, although much of the dialogue describes what might have been said. Some situations, such as Macleod's back alley encounter in Fort Benton, were included for dramatic effect. Two minor differences of note: the N.W.M.P. were not allowed to wear their uniforms while travelling thought the United States; and the motto 'Maintiens le driot' was not introduced until 1876."
