Biographical history
Jean-Marcel Duciaume a été enseignant de littérature québécoise (1970-1996) et donnait des cours de traduction jusqu’à sa retraite en 1996. Peu de temps après son arrivée à l’Université de l’Alberta, il rejoint le groupe théâtral français d’Edmonton à titre de comédien et de metteur en scène. Il fonda également une petite maison d’édition (les Éditions de l’églantier, 1975-1979) et une galerie d’art (Graphica, 1976-1983).
Jean-Marcel Duciaume was a Québecois literature teacher (1970-1996) and taught translation courses up until his retirement in 1996. Shortly after arriving at the University of Alberta, he joined the Edmonton francophone theatre group as a comedian and stage director. He also founded a small publishing firm (les Éditions de l’églantier, 1975-1979) and an art gallery (Graphica, 1976-1983).

Ce fonds fut acquis par les Archives de l'Université de l'Alberta (UAA) de la part des Archives Saint-Jean, anciennement situé au Campus Saint-Jean de l'Université de l'Alberta. Le but principal des Archives Saint-Jean était de préserver le matériel archivistique qui avait déjà été acquis au fil des ans par l'ancien IRFOC (Institut de recherche francophone de l’ouest canadien) et ensuite par l’ancien IPFOC (Institut pour le patrimoine de la francophonie de l’ouest canadien).
This fonds was acquired by the University of Alberta Archives in 2019 from the Archives Saint-Jean that was previously housed at the University of Alberta’s Campus Saint-Jean. The Archives Saint-Jean’s main goal was to preserve archival materials that had already been acquired by the IRFOC (Institut de recherche francophone de l’ouest canadien) and subsequently by IPFOC (Institut pour le patrimoine de la francophonie de l’ouest canadien).
