The Administrative records cover a period from 1980 to 1996 and document Chinook and Fringe Theater eras. They include minutes of the Board of Directors, various committee minutes, correspondence, financial statements, fund raising files, marketing reports, feasibility studies and on-site survey results. The records are grouped chronologically into five categories reflecting different administrative activities: Board of Directors work; general administration; financial duties; fund raising; and various reports.


The design records cover a period from 1989 to 1995. They consist of photocopies, original sketches, and handwritten notes for both costume and set design from various productions. Included in this series are the ground plans for the Strathcona Bus Barns.

Archive Binders

The archives binders concern the period from 1980 to 1983 when the theatre group was known as the Chinook Touring Theatre. The binders are arranged chronologically and include clippings, promotional materials, photographs, press releases, and miscellaneous records from various shows.

Fringe Seasons

The Chinook/Fringe series constitutes the bulk of the fonds' records. They cover the period from 1982 to 1997 documenting the work of both the Chinook and Fringe eras. The records divide into seven sub-series documenting a wide range of activities concerning theatre production and operation. These categories are: Chinook/Fringe General; Fourth Fringe Entries; Fifth Fringe Entries; Posters; Program Copy and Graphics; Programs; and Publicity. Within each sub-series the record are arranged chronologically. Included in the many types of documents are correspondence, casting sheets, various original sketches and printed graphics, contact lists, press packages, production run reports, schedules, advertising copy and programs from nineteen different Fringe festivals.

Photographic Material

The photographs document the period from 1993 to 1995. They consist of thirty-six colour and black and white photographs chronologically arranged from nine identified productions. The photos document plays, promotions and drama supporters enjoying the festivals.

Production Records

These records document the period from 1981 to 1997. They are arranged chronologically and include stage manager's notes, documents concerning music and sound, Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology records, lighting and technical records, company manager records and working scripts from thirty-five plays.

School Tours

The records of various tours school districts in Alberta. They include originals and photocopies of records covering a period from 1978 to 1992. The records are organized chronologically and include tour evaluations, feedback, clippings, tickets, promotional material, grant proposals, scripts, prop lists and newsletters.


These records cover the period from 1978 to 1995. They concern publicity records organized chronologically for twenty plays. The publicity material includes originals and photocopies of prop lists, schedules, press releases, and brochures.
