Series documents some of the travels of Pocock and consists of photographs, postcards, and negatives. Images are primarily of the Canadian North-West along with portraits of Pocock and others, and photos of Mexico, Canadian Prairies, and Noway. Images were either taken by Pocock or purchased during his travels and usually correlate to the places he visited, as documented through his scrapbooks, diaries, and published autobiographies. Series is arranged chronologically into nine subseries: Portraits, Images of British Columbia, Journey from Fort Macleod to Mexico City, Journey with Randle Cecil, Images of the Canadian Prairies, Journey to Spitzbergen, Images used in Chorus to Adventurers, Semi-Retirement at Charterhouse, and Trip to Canada.

A blank supply order form for the Transport Service of the North-West Field Force (N.W.F.F.). The Transport Office is listed as the Qu’Appelle Station in Saskatchewan. The North West Field Force was a group of military forces assigned the task of stopping the increasing Indigenous uprisings in the early 1800s.

A small collection of materials related to G.F. Landon, a carpenter and builder in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The first item is a photograph of a group of five men standing in a room and holding various carpentry tools. The next two items are advertisement cards. The location of the office is listed on both advertisement cards as 64 Fort St. The first card has a big red circle on the front that lists their telephone number as 172 and has a list of Manitoba legislature members on the back along with their constituency and political status. The second card advertises G.F. Landon’s services such as house-building, estimates given, additions, alterations, and repairs, and general carpentry work, and there is a list of towns and their distances from Winnipeg, Manitoba on the back.

A letter from Jas Finnegan Sr. addressed to J.H. Stanger in St Anne, Manitoba. The letter is dated October 13, although no year is mentioned. In the letter, Finnegan recounts a prairie fire that swept across the district and burned down a few people's homes and various pieces of property such as hay barns. One family, in particular, had to wade into the Coulée St-Onge and cover themselves with wet blankets to protect themselves from the fire. The letter also mentions that although much was lost in the fires, Stanger’s animals appear to be well and provides a few more updates about the selling of dairy cows. Reverend Giroux is also mentioned in the letter as he recently had bricks made for his new church but due to the damage from the fire, the bricks are worthless.

In the letter, Fetterly asks if Finnegan is selling a specific plot of land, and if he is, to respond at the earliest convenience as Fetterly would like to purchase the land. On the verso of the letter in the top left corner is the name J. Ramsay.

A pamphlet titled “A Letter to A Young Friend” by an unknown author. The pamphlet was published by the Dublin Tract Repository which had offices in Dublin, Ireland, and London, England. The pamphlet is a pre-written letter about recommitting to faith and salvation that can be sent to someone and then signed with the sender’s name.

A pamphlet advertising a Narrative Lecture on David Corson by Reverend Hiram Hull, B.A. According to the pamphlet the lecture was scheduled for the evening of February 12th at 8:00 pm at the McDougall Methodist Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Tickets to the lecture cost 25 cents each. The pamphlet contains two reviews of the lecture, some advertisements for local businesses, and a directory of the McDougall Methodist Sunday School board of management. The lecture appears to be based on the book “The Redemption of David Corson” by Charles Frederic Goss, originally published in 1900. It is a story of a man whose faith is tested.

Born in Ontario, Harry Pollard (1880-1968) was the son of a photographer and established his own studio in Calgary in 1899. Although based in Alberta, his work documented people and places across Canada and around the world. From 1924 until his retirement in 1954, Pollard worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway producing promotional photographs and films of the various ocean cruises that the company operated. The album contains views of Calgary and of various local buildings, churches, and residences. Agricultural and ranching scenes, including photographs of prize livestock and produce, are also present.

An instructions memo for Lower Fort Garry regarding Form 20. The memo includes 15 steps regarding the form. Some of the instructions, which appear to be for stocking, inventory, and payment purposes, include things like “Stock on hand as per last month's Form 20.” The form is written in J.H. Stanger’s handwriting.

An order slip for the Perry Magazine Company in Malden, Massachusetts. The order form is blank, but the buyer is directed to fill out the form and enclose $1 for a one-year subscription to the magazine. The date on the slip is preset to 190-.

A chequebook from Rowe’s Bookkeeping and Accountancy for Merchants Bank. The booklet was printed by the H.M. Rowe Co. Educational Publishers in Baltimore, Maryland. The chequebook is marked as belonging to Alice Stanger. The chequebook contains several check stubs with handwritten notes such as dates, monetary amounts, the name of the recipient, and the account from which the funds were drawn. The chequebook also includes several pages of blank checks. Presumably, Alice Stanger worked at Merchants Bank as none of the withdrawals were taken from her accounts.

Although the album does not contain manuscript annotations, many of the postcards possess captions identifying scenes in and around East End, Saskatchewan. The album contains images of the local landscape as well as of individuals captured in a variety of settings, both within the town site and outside its boundaries. The latter category of photographs includes several taken at a dam. There are also a number of images of cowboys and rodeo competitions.

Several of the rodeo postcards contain the date 17 July 1914. Although other images in the album are not explicitly dated, many would appear to be of a similar vintage. Several photographs capture individuals posing in front of a Royal North-west Mounted Police depot. Formed in 1873, the force took on its modern identity as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1920.

Four homework sheets created by Alice Stanger. The first three sheets are filled with mathematical problems and equations. At the top of the first sheet is a handwritten note “Wednesday night 1 ½ hours of homework. Thursday night 2 hours” along with Alice Stanger’s signature. The second sheet is titled “Steps in Addition.” The final sheet is an exercise for shorthand writing.

A small textbook belonging to Alice Stanger titled “Modern Commercial Penmanship” from the Accredited Schools Supply Co. in Des Moines, Iowa. The textbook is stated to be for commercial schools, public schools, academies, colleges, and private learners. The textbook was approved by the Education Committee for the National Association of Accredited Commercial Schools. The textbook includes 60 lessons for different letters, symbols, and styles of writing. Alice Stanger's name is handwritten on the front cover.

A handwritten prescription for Alice Stanger. The prescription lists several medications and their doses such as Fucus Vesiculosus which would have been used to treat iodine deficiency or thyroid issues. The prescription is signed by the physician.

A photo album containing numerous photographs of family life in Manitoba and several photos from the Isle of Man during the early 1900s. The majority of the photographs appear to have been taken around the Winnipeg area. Several photographs have typewritten captions on stickers including “George, Mona and Mum, Gull Harbour,” “Lake Winnipeg,” and “Manx Picnic.” In one of the photographs of the Manx picnic, there is a United Kingdom and an Isle of Man flag waving. Other photographs include cows walking in shallow water, forests, a log cabin, boats and ships, and various family shots.

A small booklet full of information and photographs of Red Deer, Alberta designed by the Red Deer Board of Trade. The booklet was designed in [1918] and used to promote living and farming in Red Deer. Some of the photographs include the Memorial Hospital, Sylvan Lake, and Gaetz Park among others.

A small French New Year's greeting card from Reverend Pierre Bergé who was stationed at the Tawatina Reserve Parish in Alberta, Canada. The front of the card has a small image of the Mother Mary praying over the Baby Jesus, and a silver embellished holly branch design encircles the image. The card reads “Meilleurs voeux de bonne at sainte année” which translates to “Best wishes for a happy new year.” On the back of the card, in handwriting, is written “Révérend Frère Bergé, Tawatinaw, Alberta, Canada.” The Tawatinaw Reserve was once a stop for the Canadian National Railway line.

A collection of school workbooks used by Alice Stanger for various subjects, presumably used in the 1910s. The first workbook has an illustration of an owl perched in a tree on the cover and a quote that reads “There’s a wise old owl, sits in a tree, And he knows this book Belongs to me.” The contents of the workbook include various handwritten essays about important historical figures and events. The next two workbooks have brown covers and are both Arithmetic workbooks are were used in Lockport, Manitoba. The final workbook is titled “Psychology” in Alice Stanger’s handwriting. On the workbook cover is a sepia-toned photograph print of a child riding a goat. The workbook contains notes about several textbook chapters.

A small collection of promotional materials for The Tremain Supply Co. The company, based in Toronto, Ontario, claims its hair product restores grey hair to its natural colour and keeps it soft and shiny. The collection consists of a leaflet and a brochure containing numerous testimonials from satisfied customers, and a business reply envelope pre-addressed to The Tremain Supply Co.

A promotional letter written by Dr. James W. Kidd of J.W. Kidd Co. in Toronto, Ontario. The letter is undated. The letter urges the recipient to respond to the letter to send way for one of 3000 free prescriptions being given away and a medical book written by Dr. James W. Kidd.

A collection of photographs of different members of a group of people that appear to be on vacation. One of the younger figures is possibly Alice Stanger. On the verso of one of the photographs is the handwritten note “For Joe.” The photographs depict the members of this group outdoors in different locations and poses. The collection also includes a photograph of a horse and one of a dirt road.

A collection of ten B&W photographs of various places in the Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada. The photographs are thought to have been taken by Samuel J. Hayward in the 1920s. There are photographs of the Prince of Wales Hotel, Cameron Lake, Blakiston Valley, Mount Blakiston, Bertha Mountain, Bertha Falls, Twin Falls, and Upper Waterton Lake, all of which are captioned or labelled on the back.

The creator of the album is not explicitly identified, but visual evidence suggests he may have been Lorne Muir. Two images identified as "Lorne Muir" or "L. Muir" appear to match photographs containing the captions "self" or "myself." From 1911 into the 1950s, Edmonton Henderson's directories contain entries for a Lorne Muir, first as a resident of the Mortlake Block and subsequently of other local addresses. He began work as a clerk at Revillon Bros., eventually becoming manager of its hardware department. He later worked at Ashdown's Hardware. The album contains photographs of Revillon buildings as well as the interior of an apartment accompanied by the caption "Rooms, Mortlake Block."

The album consists largely of photographs of individuals - presumably friends, family, and colleagues - in a variety of settings ranging from mountain and ranch scenes to residential and commercial venues. The subjects are often identified by first name and, in many cases, more fully. Although there are a number of British Columbia locales represented, the bulk of the images appear to have been taken in Alberta. There are several photographs and postcards of the Edmonton flood of 1915. The postcards include images of the 1899 flood and prospective miners heading north to the Klondike gold rush.

Two blank notebooks with lined paper pages. The covers of the notebooks are colour prints of paintings. Both notebooks are noted on the covers to be part of the Hilroy Series 2943. Close to the bottom edge of the notebook cover, the print on the first notebook is titled “The Haven,” and the second cover is titled “The Village Smithy.” The verso of each notebook is divided into an addition table, a multiplication table, and arithmetical tables. The notebooks presumably belonged to Alice Stanger during her school years.

A collection of handwritten lace pattern instruction sheets with included pattern samples created by Alice Stanger. Each sheet is divided into numbered lines. On each line is a pattern line consisting of Os, Xs, and Is (eg. III O X O X O O X). Each instruction sheet is titled with the pattern name “Montéz” and the corresponding pattern number (eg. “Montéz 10”). Several patterns are written on the verso of calendar pages from the 1920s. On the verso of the third “Montéz 13” pattern, there is a note from Elmire Stanger wishing Alice Stanger a Happy New Year. Also included with the collection is a blank cardstock page and a lace pattern sheet without a title.

File consists of 2 photographs that appear to be film stills or staged photos of an RCMP Officer and a woman.

A collection of 20 B&W photographs of various places in the Canadian Rockies. The photographs are thought to have been taken by Samuel J. Hayward in the 1920s. There are photographs of Lake Louise, Baff National Park, Bow River, Mt. Rundle, Castle Mountain, Johnston Canyon, Valley of the Twin Peaks, Mt. Assiniboine, and Moraine Lake.

A collection of three B&W photographs of various machinery for the Edmonton Transit System that were taken in the [1920s]. The first photograph is captioned “Edmonton Transit System, Switchboard” on looseleaf paper, and “Street Railway Machine and Switch Board. Edmonton Transit System” on the verso. The photograph depicts a group of six men standing in a large warehouse beside a flight of stairs leading up to a large switchboard and two men standing beside it. The second photograph is captioned on the verso “Boiler Room. City Power Plant. Edmonton 1920s” The photograph depicts a group of eight men standing in a boiler room. Born in England, William John Oliver (1887-1954) settled in Calgary and worked as a staff photographer for local newspapers. He also operated his own studio. A small collection of religious mementoes kept by Alice Stanger. The first card, written in French, depicts Saint Marie-Magdeleine and includes a short printed prayer naming her. The card was created by A. Bénard in Paris, France. The second card, also written in French, depicts Jesus Christ holding a heart over a hearth and a childing watching and includes a printed prayer on the verso. The final card is a sympathy card with an illustration of a cross and flowers. On the verso of this card is a handwritten note that says “Souvenir de Julie.”

Contains three descriptions of loans held by Associated Mortgage Investors, as advertising for re-sale to investors. Each description includes content on the debtor, and the land that they have provided as security for their loan. The loans comprise:

• A $7,000 loan to Robert Carlton Morrow, of Ethelton, Saskatchewan, with one half-, and one quarter- section valued at $18,640 as security.
• A $4,000 loan to Arthur Lewis, of Delia, Alberta, with a half-section valued at $11,685 as security.
• A $4,500 loan to Andrew Aune, of Morrin, Alberta, with two quarter-sections valued at $14,100 as security.

In addition, the cover in which these documents are enclosed includes promotional information and newspaper extracts relevant to the load offerings.

A small collection of chalkboard paper stencils used by Alice Stanger during her career as a teacher. Two stencils have the handwritten note “Xmas” and the other has the handwritten note “Holly Wreath.” The stencils are made out of brown paper with finely perforated lines that create holiday designs such as wreaths, bells, and ribbons. Two of the stencils have purple ink stamps that read “ Flanagan’s Blackboard Stencils” along with instructions. The instructions indicate that an abundance of chalk dust should be placed on a blackboard eraser and then wiped over the perforated lines. After this step, the stencil should be removed and the faint lines retraced with a piece of chalk. All three stencils are enclosed in a T. Eatons Co Limited brown paper bag.
