The General Index to the Insurance Plan of the City of Edmonton for 1959 to 1966. The index was likely created by the Underwriters’ Survey Bureau, Limited. At the beginning of the booklet is a foldout map of the Edmonton area divided into 12 sections. The index contains three sections which are titled “ Streets,” "Specials," and "Blocks" and various addresses are listed in each.

A conference paper on the Church of England and higher education in the Canadian prairie provinces, written by Dr. Lewis Gwynne Thomas and presented at the Seventh Annual Meeting of the Canadian Church Historical Society on 6 September 1955 and published in Vol. III, No. 1 of The Journal of the Canadian Church Historical Society, January 1956.

On the cover of the pamphlet, there is a bubble map illustrating the role of phosphorus in crop production. The pamphlet provides information about the importance of phosphorus in crop production and covers topics such as the properties of phosphorus, phosphorus placement for cereal crops, phosphorus fertilization of corn, and residual phosphorus.

Receipts for purchases made by Donald McFadden at various authorized Esso dealerships and service stations. Bundles appear to be organized by dates around a particular excursion, and consist primarily of "Imperial Oil Limited Esso-Matic Invoice(s)" with other receipts attached. Includes a set of punched Esso credit card receipt stubs which have been stamped "PAID" by the Royal Bank of Canada. Three of the stubs are marked with the slogan "Put a Tiger in your Tank."

Receipt book maintained by Donald James McFadden, containing the details of approximately 50 poultry sales made to various individuals, businesses, and organizations.

Included receipts are dated between 3 August 1966 and 18 November 1966, and record the purchaser's information [Name and Address], date of transaction, and details of transaction [including amount, type, and base price per unit of items being sold and total purchase price]. The seller's information ["D. J. McFadden, Rivers, Manitoba"] is recorded as a stamp on the front cover of the receipt book.

Some receipts contain short handwritten notes providing additional context on poultry orders and deliveries.

A brochure advertising Treflan, an herbicide for controlling the spread of the weed Green foxtail. Treflan is a product from the company Elanco in Calgary, Alberta. The brochure outlines the steps for using Treflan and includes illustrations of the process. On the back of the brochure, there are testimonials from farmers in Manitoba who have used the product, as well as a testimonial from Dr Elmer Stobbe from the Crop Science Department at the University of Manitoba. The year 1977 is handwritten on the cover of the brochure.

A brochure titled “Flax” published by the company, Elanco. The brochure advertises Treflan, a selective herbicide for weed control. The locations of the company are listed as Winnipeg, Manitoba and Calgary, Alberta. The brochure was written by Don Cruikshank, a farmer from Manitoba. The brochure provides information and illustrations about how to use the herbicide on flax crops to protect them from weeds. The year 1977 is handwritten in the top right corner of the brochure cover.

A collection of meeting minutes from the Regional Co-ordinating Committee meetings. The minutes range from December 4, 1968, to December 6, 1969. The locations of the meetings are listed as Calgary, Alberta, and the International Inn in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each document lists the date, location, and the names of people present for the meeting, and provides details about the topics discussed. Each document also includes copies of reports or supplemental materials mentioned in the minutes. Some of the discussion topics for the meetings included provincial reports, various motions, regional minimum prices, and promotion and merchandising.

On the cover of the pamphlet, there is a map of Canada that depicts the “areas where sulphur deficiency is known or suspected.” The pamphlet provides information about the importance of sulphur in crop production and covers topics such as the properties of sulphur-deficient soils, crop requirements for sulphur, sulphur and forage quality, and additions of sulphur for soil acidification.

A Christmas card from Cam Burke, the manager of the Alexandra Hotel in Calgary, Alberta. The Christmas card is titled “Presenting ‘Good Night Irene’ in 3 Acts Featuring Cam Burke.” When the card is unfolded to a half fold, the panel on the left side features Act I and depicts a grey composite image of the face of Cameron Burke over a cartoon image of someone driving a car in the country. Some of the lyrics of the song “Goodnight Irene” are written at the top of the panel. The Act II panel on the right side depicts a grey composite image of the face of Cameron Burke over a cartoon image of a person dressed in a suit driving a car in the city. The Secretary’s Helper handbook for bowling games. The handbook was issued exclusively under copyright for The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. of Canada, Limited, a company that manufactured various goods. The company had offices in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Calgary. The handbook lists various total averages depending on the number of games played up to 90 games. The final pages of the handbook include blank team schedules for varying numbers of teams. The price of the handbook is listed as 75 cents.

A collection of 18 assorted postcards all addressed to Mrs. G. A. [Lulu] Dyker, sent between 4 May 1947 and 14 Oct 1960. 1 postcard [date unclear] was sent before 1946.

10 postcards were sent by Mrs. G. A. Dyker's son Hedley "Hed" Dyker; an additional 4 postcards were written and sent jointly by Hedley and his sister Jean during a visit to Edmonton. Of the remaining 4 postcards, 2 were sent by an Olga O'Neail; 1 was sent by her daughter, Margaret "Marg" McFadden née Dyker; and 1 was signed simply "Della". The brief correspondence largely addresses travel, including the senders' arrival and departure to and from various locations and what they have done or will do there; short life and work updates; and general greetings and well-wishes.

Images include buildings in Calgary and Edmonton (Alta.), bridges in Edmonton and Vancouver (B.C), landscapes and scenery (mountains, lakes, and rivers) in Banff and Jasper (Alta.), and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police [RCMP].

Vol. I, No. 8 of the Alberta Sun. The headlining article is "Who's Who in the City of Calgary" and features a portrait of Geo. Ingraham, "one of Calgary's best known and most progressive young business men." Other articles include "Government Tells About Future of the Telephone," "Mussolini Showing Italy's Naval Force to Colonials in Tripoli," and "Crews of Ships Smuggle Drugs into Dominion." Numerous advertisements include three full page spreads from Calgary Bond and Security Company, Highland Oil Company, and The Calgary Dry Goods.

The photo album may have belonged to Robert John Hamilton. Contains several B&W photos of gas and oil fields and equipment, and a handbook clipping regarding oil industry information. The majority of the photo album, however, contains recreational photos of a group of several people travelling, hiking, and camping around the Rocky Mountain areas in Alberta. A mix of scenic photos and portraits. Several notable locations in the Rocky Mountains are photographed such as Mt. Rundle, Lake Louise, Mt. Edith Cavell, and Athabasca Falls.

A collection of documents and propaganda from an anti-Pierre Trudeau political movement called the "United West Association." Outlines the former Prime Minister's socialist and communist policies and tendencies, and includes income and expense statements, event posters, newsletters, articles (opinion pieces), political cartoons, calls to action, and duplicates and photocopies of book chapters and other printed materials.

Two certificates for oil company shares belonging to J. J. McRobbie. The first certificate is No. 757 from the Alberta Pacific Oil Company Limited and the registered office location is listed as Calgary, Alberta. The certificate indicates that McRobbie purchased 20 one-dollar share. The certificate was signed on June 1, 1914, by the secretary and the president of the company. On the back of the certificate is a confirmation section for the number of shares purchased, and a blank transfer of shares notice. The second certificate is No. 8930 from the Prudential Oil and Gas Company and the head office location is listed as Calgary, Alberta. The certificate indicates that McRobbie purchased 25 one-dollar shares in the company. This certificate was signed on June 4, 1914, by the secretary and the president of the company. The back of this certificate is identical to the back of the other.

The original manuscript for Prairie Manna: A Brief History of the United Church of Canada in Southern Saskatchewan during the Thirties by [R.] A. Collins. The manuscript was finished in March 1962, and at the time the author was part of the Bowness United Church in Calgary, Alberta. The purpose of the essay is to document and highlight the contributions made by the United Church of Canada to various communities in southern Saskatchewan. The author gathered information from numerous different sources about the United Church of Canada and also provided information on southern Saskatchewan's historical and economic background.

Notes on inside of both covers read "David A. Riddell, 1912." Several shots of Ukranian settlers in traditional dress are incorrectly captioned as "Russian."

Certified copy of marriage certificate between Harold Redgrave, bachelor, of Golden, British Columbia, and Emma Frances de Vere, widow, of Donald, British Columbia. Certificate affirms that their marriage was solemnized at Calgary, Alberta by Reverend J. G. Herdman, in the presence of Minnie Herdman and Lizzie Londoun, on 8 Feb. 1887, and was registered on 13 May 1889.

A brochure about the history of Fort Calgary and the North-West Mounted Police. The brochure includes information a great deal of information about Captain Richard Burton Deane, the commanding officer of the N.W.M.P. Calgary detachment from 1906 to 1914, as well as some colour illustrations of the inside and outside of the Deane House. The printed pages inside the file folder contain various pieces of information about the Calgary N.W.M.P. The file folder, which was printed by the Fort Calgary Preservation Society, has a B&W photograph of a line of N.W.M.P. officers that wraps around the folder. The brochure and the file folder were developed with the assistance of NOVA, An Alberta Corporation, Alberta Culture, and the Junior League of Calgary. The photographs from both are courtesy of the Glenbow Alberta Institute.

A list of 505 names, many including job descriptions or marital status, of registered voters in a west Calgary district "comprising an area bounded on the North by 17th Ave. West, on the East by 26th Street, on the South by 23rd Avenue W., and on the West by 29th Street West." The names were "enumerated during a recent house-to-house visitation in the above mentioned polling division by a pair of urban enumerators."

Certificate No. 21238 from Beaver Oils Limited and the head office location is listed as Calgary, Alberta. The certificate indicates that C. A. [Knechtel] purchased 100 shares at 25 cents each, numbered 2617754 to 2617853. The certificate was signed on May 6, 1915, by the secretary and president of the company.

B&W photographs of the Royal visit of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and George V1 to Calgary, Alberta in May 1939. The photographs were taken by W. J. Oliver. One photograph documents the Royal couple riding in the back of a car, and another shows them meeting a group of Indigenous peoples. There is also a photograph of the Royal couple exiting Calgary City Hall on a red carpet that was borrowed from St. Augustine’s Church. The photographs come with a brown envelope addressed to Mrs. E. B. Mckay in Calgary, Alberta from W.J. Oliver. The envelope advertises that Oliver takes commercial, press, and portrait photographs.

A letter written on a typewriter from Walter G. Wright in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Harold Hawes in Calgary, Alberta on October 23rd, 1940. Walter inquires about Harold’s health, gives updates about the current wartime climate in Argentina, and provides some updates about their personal life as well. The envelope has a label on the side indicating the letter had been "Checked by Censor."

Two handwritten letters from Charles French to his wife and children. The first letter dated May 29th, 1907, was sent from Calgary, Alberta, and was written on Grand Central Hotel stationery. Charles French writes about the current state of Calgary and opportunities for making money there. He describes Calgary in a favourable light. The second letter dated May 30th, 1907, was sent from Edmonton, Alberta, and was written on The Hotel Cecil stationery. In this letter, he writes that he does not like the area at all and does not think he will stay there. The third letter, which is typed on C.A. French & Sons Grain, Flour, Coal, and Mill Feeds stationery, is written to Charles French from one of his sons, H.G. French. The letter informs Charles that he must purchase more corn. The last item is a business card for Charles A. French in Bellmont, Illinois.

Contains 32 b&w photographs of the station gardens and nursery plants, all captioned. Photograph locations include Moosejaw, Portage la Prairie, Virden, Oak Lake, and Saskatoon. Issued by the Forestry Branch of the Natural Resources Department of "C. P. Ry. Co."

The photographer, known as “The Ranchmen’s Photographer” according to the embossment under the photo, was S. A. Smyth from Calgary, Alberta. Sydney Alfred Smyth was a well-known photographer who was active in the late 1800s.

An insurance plan of the town of High River, Alberta from August 1960. The population at the time of the plan creation was 2250. The plan consists of a Master Title page which contains a Standard Key of Signs, two index pages, and 7 detail sheets. On the cover of the plan, there is a note indicating that the plan was made by and is the property of the Underwriters’ Survey Bureau Limited. The copyright for the plan is registered in Ottawa. This particular plan is listed as Copy No. 13 and was issued to Phoenix Assurance Company Limited of London in Calgary, Alberta. Each page of the detail sheets displays various streets and buildings in the town of High River and the colour of each building indicates the type of construction material used for that particular building. This plan consists of primarily retail areas.

The album largely consists of B&W photographs of hydroelectric dams and power plants in the Canadian Rockies, particularly Banff, Kananaskis Country, Seebe, Ghost River, and the Horseshoe Dam. Of particular note are approximately 24 photographs showing the aftermath of the fire that destroyed the Horseshoe plant in 1940 and approximately 20 photographs showing the construction of the Ghost Hydroelectric Dam.

Two letters featuring idiosynchratic spelling and grammar from the Calgary Chief of Police Thomas English to boxer Walter W Weir in Vernon, B.C., dated June 25, 1905 and July 24, presumably of the same year but not indicated. The first letter discusses English's thoughts on Vernon and "the B C people," other boxers, and a potential tournament in Calgary where English hoped Weir would come and "put some quietus on some more of the hot air fraturnity." The second letter is informing Weir the tournament will be held on August 10-12.

A program for the First Motor Racing Meet for the Calgary News Telegram Cup. The racing meet was held on the Gridiron Course at the South East Calgary Corporation’s Boulevard in Calgary, Alberta, on August 12, 1911. The race was held by the Motor Racing Association and the program was printed by Star Printing Works. Inside the program is a list of all the participating cars, their names, owners, drivers, horsepower, the time it takes to start, and a blank column for their race time. Some of the times for the cars have been filled out in pencil. On the back of the program is a short list of rules and regulations.

A brochure from 1932 celebrating 50 years of the Campbell Bros. & Wilson, Limited Company, a wholesale grocery and provision business. The brochure states that the company was founded in 1882 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and expanded to cities such as Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Calgary, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Red Deer, and Grande Prairie. The brochure consists of various profiles of employees of the company and information about the different establishments in different cities.
Also includes an envelope for the brochure with a blue shield-shaped logo that says "Royal Shield Brand of Goods 50 Years."

A 1926 Riley & McCormick, Limited catalogue titled “Cowboy Equipment Harness Saddles Catalogue No. 10.” The catalogue is from 1926 and the company was located in Calgary, Alberta. The catalogue provides instructions for ordering products or cancelling orders. The rest of the catalogue consists of illustrations of various products sold by Riley & McCormick, Limited along with short descriptions of each. The products listed in the catalogue range from saddles, to leather chapps, to hats, to harnesses. The final two pages of the catalogue are tearaway order forms that can be sent to the company.

The story on the front paper is titled “Many Killed in Chicago Factory Fire.” The newspaper is filled with articles, numerous advertisements for businesses in Calgary, Alberta, and a few cartoon strips. The articles cover topics from world news to movie and actor profiles to automobile news to stories of Easter Sunday Services.
