Shapira's PhotoMap produced by the Bell Telephone Co. of Canada Ltd., showing long distance and rural telephone lines in Winnipeg in 1906, with Icelandic writing [possible draft of poem or letter] on map's verso signed "Stephan G. Stephansson" [a well-known Icelandic-Canadian poet].
The map is titled "Northwest Department Long Distance and Rural Lines in the Province of Manitoba In Operation and In Course of Construction 1906" and shows the system of telephone lines connecting various communities in Manitoba to Saskatchewan and to United States points. The map was created by Herbert H. New.
Stephansson's writing does not appear to be titled, possibly because it begins in the middle of the piece [breaks in the text are numbered, and the text begins with 3 and ends with 9 - numbers 1 and 2 are not present]. The panels with writing on them are numbered 2-4, written at the bottom of each panel.
