A brochure advertising SeCan retailers for wheat and soybeans in Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. SeCan is a seed supplier for farmers across Canada and is based in Ottawa, Ontario. The brochure provides information about various types of soybeans, their characteristics, and what the soybean plants look like at various stages of growth. The brochure also includes several bar graphs depicting soybean yield results by various planting methods in 2017. On the back of the brochure, there is the contact information for numerous SeCan retail locations across the Prairies, and a note indicating that SeCan is listed as a subsidiary of Monsanto Canada, Inc.

The lecture was held in the Railway Committee Room of the House of Commons on February 14, 1878. The invitation was created on February 12, 1878, in Ottawa and printed by the Free Press Print. The Bishop of Saskatchewan druing this time was John McLean.

A booklet provided by the Government of the Dominion of Canada containing photographs, maps, and predominantly agricultural information intending to encourage settlement in the western provinces. Published prior to 1905 and the present-day provincial configuration, the maps display boundaries for the territories of Assiniboia, Athabasca, Mackenzie, Franklin, Keewatin, and Ungava. The title reads "Homes for Millions in Western Canada's Vast Agricultural Domain of Virgin Opportunity and Infinite Resources."

Correspondence received by the Dominion Lands Office, primarily addressed to a Mr. D. S. McCannell Esq., with variations including McCannel, McConnell, MCannel, and sometimes just Dominion Lands Agent or 'Dear Sir.' They mostly deal with the granting of homesteads under the Dominion Lands Act to individuals in Assiniboine, N. W. T., what is now the province of Saskatchewan.

Regulations respecting grazing and hay lands in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta were established by Order-in-Council dated 27 July 1905 and include general regulations around the issue of leases for grazing and hay lands; leases of school lands for grazing; permits to cut hay; leases to cut hay; and penalties for cutting hay without authority.

Regulations for the administration of grazing and hay lands in the Railway Belt of British Columbia were approved by Orders-in-Council dated 4 June 1904 and 5 July 1904, and include general regulations around the issue of leases for grazing and hay lands.

Regulations for the administration of grazing and hay lands in the Yukon Territory were approved by Orders-in-Council dated 5 January 1901 and 8 April 1902, and include general regulations around the issue of leases for grazing and hay lands; permits for hay; and permits for grazing.

A small handwritten diary of Harold Glift Fitzmaurice from Saskatchewan. Daily entries from January 1st 1906 – May 5th 1910. Entries describe the weather that day as well as work accomplished (ie. land plowed, gophers caught).

A French book titled “Sols Des Prairies de L’Ouest: Leur Nature at Leur Composition” which translates in English to “Western Prairie Soils: Their Nature and their Composition.” The book was written by Frank T. Shutt, a chemist for federal experimental farms, and published in August 1910. It was published by the order of Sydney A. Fisher, Minister of Agriculture in Ottawa, Ontario. The book is labelled as Bulletin No. 6 in the second series, and a note indicates that the second series of these bulletins focuses on information that will only be interesting to a limited number of people as it is increasingly specific. The book discusses the soil in each prairie province (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta) in different sections.

A booklet from the Canadian Emigration Department advertising immigration to Canada issued by the authority of the Minister of the Interior in Ottawa, Canada in 1910. The booklet calls for farmers, farm labourers, and domestic servants to immigrate to Canada to find work and states they are “the only people the Canadian immigration department advises to emigrate to Canada” and everyone else should get definite assurance of work or employment before moving to the country. The booklet covers topics such as persons wanted for work, wages, opportunities for farming in the Prairies, times to emigrate, ocean travel rates, and letters from satisfied settlers.

A pamphlet titled "Land Seekers Guide also Free Homestead Lands along the Grand Trunk Pacific in Western Canada," dated August, 1912. Provides information and photographs of southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, to encourage settlement of the area. Map is stamped in red ink to indicate railways, and includes notes on how to "find lands on the map" and "in the field."

A booklet with in-depth information regarding farming and homesteading opportunities in Western Canada, "the Granary of the British Empire," published by the Canadian Pacific Railway Department of Natural Resources. It covers Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia and contains photographs of geographical features and agricultural functions. A large fold-out map is tipped-in after the last page and shows "system of land survey and lines of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company."

Two letters addressed to Mr. Thos. W. Walker in Willimantic, Connecticut, from Mr. M. A. Bowlby of the Canadian Government Agency in Boston, Massachusetts, dated February 26, 1914 and February 15, 1915. They are replies to Mr. Walker's inquiries about the 160 acre parcels of land being offered for free in Western Canada. The backs of the letters are maps of southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, as well as a portion of the United States, with many small town names listed as stops along the railway. There is also an unused self-addressed envelope from Mr. Bowlby (no postage), and a blank questionnaire asking for names of other people who may be interested in his solicitation.

Government regulations respecting grazing lands in Western Canada in 1915.

Regulations for Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Peace River Tract in British Columbia were established by Order-in-Council dated 16 Feb. 1914 and include general and specific regulations surrounding Leases for Grazing on Dominion Lands and Grazing Permits on School Lands.

Regulations for the administration of grazing lands in the Kamloops Division of the RAilway Belt in British Columbia were approved by Order-in-Council dated 13 May 1910 and include general and specific regulations surorund grazing leases. Orders-in-Council dated 4 June 1904, 5 July 1914, and 4 Sept. 1908 are rescinded.

The fourth publication of the Saskatchewan yearbook for the year 1930. The yearbook was printed by The Western Printers Ass’n, LTD in Regina, Saskatchewan. The price of the yearbook at the time was 50 cents. The yearbook highlights Saskatchewan’s growth and development over the year 1930 and provides biographical sketches about important political figures who are active in the province. The yearbook reports on a wide variety of subjects like postal rates, the court system, different cities in Saskatchewan, notable events, sports, and several prominent universities and colleges.

"In 1955 Saskatchewan marks its fiftieth year. In this year of jubilee we, the people of Saskatchewan, desire a fitting commemoration of the anniversary of our province. It will be a symphony of farm and city, of wheat and oil, of industry and art, and of people from many lands and with many faiths."

A promotional brochure addressed specifically to churches and religious organizations in Saskatchewan regarding the upcoming Saskatchewan Golden Jubilee in 1955, describing the objectives of the celebration and its program, and requesting that all Saskatchewan churches and religious groups participate by observing a provincial day of prayer on 17 July 1955. The pamphlet also suggests compiling a local history, encouraging former church members to plan a family homecoming, or working with a community program as a way to "swell the Jubilee hosannah".

A reprinting, with pictures, of a journal kept by a member of a group of six "city folk" who took a canoe trip in Northern Saskatchewan from July 23 to August 13 [1955]. Author Denis Coolican was the President of the Canadian Bank Note Company. Their route is marked out on a large map that is attached to and unfolds from inside of the back cover.

Brochure announcing three competitions, and their subsequent prizes, for Saskatchewan writers, to be held in accordance with Saskatchewan's Golden Jubilee celebrations in 1955.

The competition categories include: a Short Story [of 3000 words]; a One-act Play [not less than 30 minutes, and not more than 45 minutes]; and a Poem or Group of Poems [not to exceed a total of 60 lines]. Each category offers 3 prize tiers, for first [$250], second [$150], and third [$100] place finishes.

The brochure also includes a list of Regulations; Judges; information on Saskatchewan's Golden Jubilee; and a list of Some of the Jubilee Projects [the "writing of an official history of the Province of Saskatchewan"; "supplementary publications dealing with particular aspects of the provincial story"; "mobile display units to visit schools and fairs"; "program of restoring and marking historic sites"; "Jubilee choir composed of high school students"; "musical revue with a Saskatchewan theme"; and a "creative development program in the fine arts"].

Information on the Historic Sites program, launched to commemorate Saskatchewan's Golden Jubilee in 1955. The program placed "rustic-style" markers at historically significant sites throughout the province, including trails, river crossings, fur trade posts, and locations associated with the territorial government and the North-West Mounted Police.

A foldout map and pamphlet titled “Varieties of Grain Crops for Saskatchewan 1956” from The Saskatchewan Advisory Council on Grain Crops. The pamphlet was published under the authority of the Saskatchewan Co-operative Agricultural Extension Programme. The pamphlet discusses bread wheat, durum wheat, winter wheat, oats, rape seed, field peas and beans, barley, rye, and flax. The included map displays the Cereal Variety Zones of Saskatchewan, and there is a list of variety recommendations for each zone in 1956.

The original manuscript for Prairie Manna: A Brief History of the United Church of Canada in Southern Saskatchewan during the Thirties by [R.] A. Collins. The manuscript was finished in March 1962, and at the time the author was part of the Bowness United Church in Calgary, Alberta. The purpose of the essay is to document and highlight the contributions made by the United Church of Canada to various communities in southern Saskatchewan. The author gathered information from numerous different sources about the United Church of Canada and also provided information on southern Saskatchewan's historical and economic background.

A typed report detailing the history of Northern Alberta Railways from the first charter in 1907 to the crop season of 1961-62. The last page consists of unspecified statistical information on locomotives owned by the N.A.R.

Newspaper article written by Bruce Braden Peel on the topic of "Prairie-ana", which he suggests could be used as "an inclusive term for books relating to our Prairie provinces", as the term "Canadiana" is to books about Canada. Peel discusses various authors and literary works from or relating to the Prairie provinces, including poetry, prose fiction, and nonfiction works. In the article, Peel names authors such as Henry Kelsey; Pierre Falcon; J. S. Major; Nicholas Flood Davin; Rhoda Sivell; Stephan G. Stephansson; John Greenleaf Whittier; Bertram Tennyson; Rudyard Kipling; R. M. Ballantyne; John Mackie; C. F. A. Saxby; W. L. Amy [Luke Allan]; Maurice Constantin-Weyer; Somerset Maugham; Sinclair Lewis; and Thomas Spence.

"There has been much more written about the Prairie scene than you think. It includes some famous writers such as Maugham and Sinclair Lewis. First writing dates away back to 1691. It is still going on."

A small collection of meeting minutes and reports from the Turkey Marketing Boards Regional Meeting on June 10, 1968. The representatives present at the meeting came from British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Donald J. McFadden was present as one of the representatives from Manitoba. The meeting was held in Regina, Saskatchewan. The meeting minutes list the date, and the names of people present for the meeting, and provide details about the topics discussed. Also included are a report from the Saskatchewan Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board written by F.W. Longstaff, a report from the British Columbia Turkey Marketing Board written by E. Pratt, and a report from the Manitoba Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board written by J.P. Tanchak. The Alberta report was delivered verbally and there is no written copy.

A publication from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police celebrating the centennial of the organization. The RCMP was founded in 1873 and the centennial was celebrated in 1973. Throughout the booklet, there are various colour photographs and illustrations of RCMP officers, important figures in the organization, planes, events, and group scenes. "Sclerotinia stem rot, also known as white mould, is one of the most devastating diseases in canola production. Sclerotinia is usually most severe in the higher moisture areas of the Prairies. But with the right combinations of adequate moisture and susceptible host, heavy infections can develop almost anywhere."

The first interior page notes that this is Bulletin No. 57, and was written by M.P. Tullis, Field Crops Commissioner. It is also noted that this is the third edition. 54 pages within the book contain information regarding weeds found in Saskatchewan, including drawings for identification. At the back there are 8 pages detailing the Saskatchewan Revised Statutes of 1920, chapter 167, regarding noxious weeds. A large purple faded stamp on the top of the first page of these statutes states: This act repealed and new act passed in 1924.

An information guide pamphlet for hunting in Saskatchewan. The pamphlet provides information about the different kinds of licenses that may be required, tips for a successful hunting trip, the best locations to hunt specific kinds of prey and the specific times of year that hunting is permitted in the province. Several photographs of people hunting are included, as well as a map of Saskatchewan, and a few illustrations of hunters and animals. The pamphlet was published by the Saskatchewan Government Travel Bureau, a division of the Department of Industry and Information.

Booklet titled: "Taxing Co-operatives," by Saskatchewan Co-operative Producers Limited, April 1947. Cover is in blue paper, and the front  cover contains an ink drawing of a wheat elevator, a co-op store and a co-op oil pump. Published by the Allied Printing Trades Council, Saskatoon. Contains 12 pages detailing how to tax co-operatives, including a calendar of events at the back.

Prints are of basic training at Long Branch, Ontario, and of post-war recreation around Saskatchewan and Wascana Lake. Also included is one 4" x 6" aerial photo of the Long Branch RAF base and one 3" x 4" photo from 1911 of a Boy Scout Camp at Fort Qu’appelle.
Further notes provided by dealer: "In 1918, the compiler of this album trained with the RAF at Jesse Ketchum School in Toronto and then moved on to further training at Long Branch, which is now the district known as Etobicoke.  This same training was undertaken by writer William Faulkner months earlier. Following the war and up to 1920, much of this album is of trips or days out on and around the waterways of Saskatchewan."

Contains information regarding Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, including crops, fruit, and animals sustainable in each location. Also includes information on land surveying, mineral land regulations, government land offices, settlers’ effects, general information, etc.

A publication titled “Citizenship: Our Democracy” and authorized by the Departments of Education for the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  Stamped on the inside front cover appears to be “Property of King George School” but the ink is smeared and the stamp was not evenly applied.  The material within this publication is meant to be covered as part of the social studies curriculum for elementary school children.  “The course aims particularly to teach children loyalty to our King and to our country.”  Printed by Thos. The interior contains a map of hunting areas in Saskatchewan, bag limits for different types of game, as well as the cost of hunting licences, use of firearms, suggestions for places to hunt, and how to export game.
