Commemorative magazine, issued by the Imperial Veterans of Canada, Edmonton Branch, on the occasion of the coronation of King George VI. The booklet includes articles on the coronation, statements from William Aberhart, Premier of Alberta, Joseph A. Clarke, Mayor of Edmonton, W. A. Griesbach, Senator (ex-Major General), and from the treasurer and chaplain of the Edmonton Branch. Also included are messages of goodwill from other organizations, in support of the coronation souvenir issue. While the features at the beginning of the booklet concentrate on the Coronation, the focus appears to shift to Imperial Veterans of Canada towards the end of the item. A substantial number of advertisements for various local businesses are included alongside the text of the booklet.

Short poem parodying "It's a Long Way to Tipperary". The poem describes "Jack Canuck" going to London as a soldier during World War I, leaving disappointed girls at home.

Short biography of Dr. John Chantler McDougall (1842-1917), Methodist missionary in Western Canada, produced in conjunction with the McDougall Memorial Service in aid of the Morley Church Restoration Fund in 1952. References his religious and missionary work as a reverend, as well as his work as an interpreter, negotiating Treaties 6 and 7, and lobbying and working with governments on Indigenous issues.

PE002471 - "Wanted-- A Chauffeur" - One Act Play

Script for a one-act play promoting the Temperance Movement in Canada.

A woman and her daughter are in a car accident caused by their chauffeur, who was intoxicated. They are helped by the druggist, who puts out an ad to hire a new chauffeur who is "a strictly temperate man". Four men arrive to apply. Three admit to consuming alcohol; the fourth advocates for prohibition as his father was killed by an intoxicated driver. They hire the fourth. The play concludes with a chorus singing "Temperance songs".

Three catalogue materials from the Northern Alberta Pioneers and Old Timers Association. The first item is a program for the annual round-up banquet and dance of the organization. The banquet was held at the MacDonald Hotel on December 3rd, 1942. The program lists the menu for the evening as well as the toast list and association officers. The second item is a catalogue of the items in the relics building at Old Fort Edmonton in Edmonton, Alberta. The price of the catalogue is listed as 25 cents. The third item is another catalogue of the items in the relics building at Old Fort Edmonton, but the inside pages were typed on a typewriter.

The 1923 Jubilee Calendar for the Winnipeg General Hospital. The calendar, compiled and published by the Winnipeg General Hospital Nurses’ Alumnae Association and produced by Bulman Bros. Limited, commemorates the hospital’s 50th anniversary from when it opened in 1972. The first page of the calendar provides details about the hospital’s history. On each subsequent page, the months and dates are at the bottom of each page and the rest of the pages contain various interesting facts about the hospital such as former lady superintendents, different graduate classes, nurses who won decorations for war service, and missionary members at home and abroad.

A pamphlet titled “Meet Me at the Canadian Pacific Pavilion at Wembley.” Inside the pamphlet is a map indicating the shortest routes from railway stations to the Canadian Pacific Pavilion and Gardens. The shortest routes are marked in red. The Canadian Pacific Pavilion was the Dominion of Canada display area at the British Empire Exhibition in Wembley, England from 1924 to 1925.

PE002638 - 10th anniversary limited edition book celebrating 10 seasons of the Winnipeg Jets hockey team

A limited edition book celebrating the 10th anniversary and 10 seasons of the Winnipeg Jets hockey team. The book was written by Ken Fenson, a former Jets vice-president, and published in [1982] by the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club. Each chapter of the book discusses one season of the Jets, thus illustrating the history of the time. The book is full of photographs of the changing members of the team and different hockey games throughout the years. The last page of the book includes several photocopy signatures of the Jets players in the 10th season.

PE002668 - Materials in German relating to Mennonite immigration to Manitoba; 1934

Book: A published work containing the accounts of settlers who immigrated to the East Mennonite Reserve in Manitoba and were present at the 60th anniversary celebration of Mennonite immigration in Steinbach, Manitoba on August 1, 1934. The foreword reads "The desire to record these communications from the pioneer settlers for the descendants of the immigrants and possibly for later Mennonite historical research prompted the publication of this issue" (translated). Contains seven plates bearing captioned photographs, one illustration captioned "A pioneer dwelling from the first winter" (translated), and handwritten notes (in German) on some pages.
Programs: Two identical copies of a program for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Mennonite immigration, held in Steinbach, Manitoba on August 1, 1934. Includes a schedule for songs and speeches, and lyrics to hymns.
Newspaper clippings: Five cut-out captioned images from newspapers. One is a photograph of a sternwheeler boat with a smaller long boat beside it in the water, both full of people, caption reads "Arrival of the first Mennonite immigrants in Winnipeg on July 31, 1874" (translated). Two are photograph portraits, one is "Cornelius Toews, deputy of the small community" (translated), and the other is Cornelius Taft (?). One is an illustrated portrait of Gen. Gov. Lord Dufferin, who "visited the Mennonites on August 21, 1877" (translated). The final photograph is the only item in the collection in English and shows a group of horse-drawn carriages (no horses) lined up for a funeral service for Samuel Stoltzfus, "farmer and bishop of the House Amish." The newspaper is called Free Press Weekly Prairie Farmer and is dated April 27, 1949.

A bracket document outlining the winners of each heat for the Winnipeg Rowing Club Spring Regatta on June 22, 1907. The starter of the day was J.C.G. Armytage, the referee was G.F. Calt, the timekeeper was W.H.A. Long, the clerks of the course were C.W. Johnstone and J.D. Pratt, the judge at the turn was G.H. Stead, and the judges were C.S. Riley and J.S. Henderson. On the document, only the participants of the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th heat are written down (all previous winners) and the remaining spaces are left blank.

Describes the development, construction, and eventual opening of the highway connecting Fairbanks, Alaska, to Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Includes 1 map of "The Province of Alberta in relation to the Alaska Highway and the natural resources of Northwestern Canada", and approximately 40 black and white [B&W] and sepia-toned photographs depicting the construction of the highway, the individuals working on the construction project, landscapes and scenery around the highway, and the official opening of the highway.

Also includes "Tales about the Road" [short, mostly humourous vignettes about the development of the Alaska Highway] and "Edmonton - Crossroads of the World" [short prose piece about Edmonton, written in the point of view of "the spirit of Edmonton" and attributed to R. T. R.].

"From the boundary of Manitoba north to Lake Winnipeg, a distance of one hundred miles, runs an historic highway, which, as it passes through the City of Winnipeg, is known as Main Street. A buffalo trail, an Indian pathway, it saw later explorers, merchant adventurers, missionaries, soldiers and lawgivers, who crossed it on their way westward. It felt the surge of every tide of settlement. Here the mystery of the West was glimpsed. Here its spirit was felt, its music heard."

A brochure for the Van Gogh Museum Edition On Tour Exclusive Canadian Launch at the centre court of Southgate Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The exhibition was held from October 16 to November 15, 2015 and put on by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The exhibition consisted of nine identical replicas of several of Vincent Van Gogh's paintings called “Reliefographs.” The brochure provides photographs of each of the paintings as well as a description paragraph for each. The brochure also provides instructions for entering a contest to win a trip to Amsterdam.
