Manuscript describes the early navigation of the river systems of the North and South Saskatchewan beginning with the Hudson's Bay Company efforts in 1874. In addition to commerce the vessels listed were used for public purposes such as transporting military resources until the 1885 Riel Rebellion. Rail development supplanted river navigation shortly thereafter.
