Scope and content
Election campaign pamphlet titled “Unity means VICTORY” for Mrs. Dorise W. Nielsen, United Progressive Candidate. Pencilled note reads “elected to House of Commons for North Battleford March 26, 1940.” Printed on a single sheet of newsprint, folded in half. Includes a personal message from the candidate and a summary of the United Progressive platform. Under “Timely Reminders,” the writer assures voters that “This election, the ballot paper will be thick enough that marking cannot be seen through.” The reader is warned the campaign is off to a dirty start, with a “prominent Liberal platform speaker” serving a final writ of foreclosure on the Nielsen farm, acting without consent of the mortgage company. This pamphlet issued by the Elections Committee, United Progressive Movement in Mildred, SK. Printed by the Optimist Printing and Publishing Co., Ltd., North Battleford, SK.
