Biographical history

Leszek Antoni Kosinski was born on 13 June 1929 in Warsaw, Poland to Jakub and Emilia Kosinki.

Kosinski received his MA in Economics, Central School Planning and Statistics in 1951, his MA in History from the University of Warsaw in 1854 and his Doctor of Philosophy from the Polish Academy Science in 1958, Docent, 1963.

Kosinski worked as a Junior Researcher at the Institute Town Planning and Architecture in Warsaw in the early 1950s and as a Senior Researcher in the Institute of Geography at the Polish Academy of Sciences from 1954 to 1968. It was in 1968 he moved to Canada where he became a Geography Professor at the University of Alberta, where he remained until 1994.

He wrote books on geography including The Emergency Evacuation of Cities: A Cross-National Historical and Geographical Study and Ecological Disorder in Amazonia: Social Aspects.

Kosinski married Maria Leokadia Bodakiewicz on 2 April, 1951.
