General note

Adventure series featuring Sergeant Frank Preston of the R.C.M.P. and his dog, Yukon King. The comic was adapted from an American radio and television series. The radio programme aired from 1938 to 1955, first under the title Challenge of Yukon, and later, from 1951 to 1955, as Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. Following the demise of the radio programme, a Sergeant Preston of the Yukon television series was broadcast from 1955 to 1959. Once the Sergeant Preston of the Yukon television series premiered, the comic book featured covers taken from various episodes. (Information taken from the Challenge of the Yukon entry in Wikipedia, available online at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_of_the_Yukon [accessed 27 January 2017]).

General note

Sergeant Preston of the Yukon adventures were also published as smaller-format comics. The Lund Comics Collection holds four examples of this type of publication - Sergeant Preston of the Yukon: How he became a Mountie, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon: How he found Yukon King, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon: The case that made him a sergeant, and Sergeant Preston of the Yukon: How Yukon King saved him from the wolves - and they are described separately in the finding aid.

General note

Sergeant Preston of the Yukon content also appeared in issue no. 2 of TV western. The Lund Comics Collection holds this issue, and it is described separately in the finding aid.
