Under the sponsorship of the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, and Sherbrooke, the Riel Project was established to publish a critical, bilingual edition of the collected writings of Louis Riel to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. A five-volume edition was published by the University of Alberta Press in 1985. Dr. G.F.G. Stanley was the general editor of the Project. Editorial and institutional files contain materials which predate the Project.
