Some mounted officers can be seen in front and many rows of white tents are visible behind. Two notes on the back, one in pen reads "D. W. Light" and the second in pencil reads "53rd Prince Albert Biv. (bivouac), D.W. Light from Pte. M. Jack Light, Battleford, Sack (Sask)."

One letter is written to certify that SBS served in the Red River Expeditionary Force in 1870-1871 (written by D.A. Macdonald who served as Captain and Adjutant of the Regiment).
