A green duotang with a printed title on the cover that indicates the contents are a report of the Manitoba Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board Third Annual Meeting at the Niakwa Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 25, 1972. The meeting is noted to be a combined meeting between the Manitoba Turkey Association (17th Annual Meeting) and the Manitoba Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board (3rd Annual Meeting). The first page lists the board members and the second page outlines the schedule of events for the meeting. The Canadian Turkey Marketing Agency Annual Report for 1993. The report was created for the twentieth annual meeting and was prepared for presentation to the Federal Minister of Agriculture and the National Farm Products Council. The annual meeting was held in Ottawa, Ontario on March 30, 1994. The report contains a list of staff and directors, a message from the Chairman, an executive report, a marketing report, various charts depicting market growth and turkey production, and various financial statements. When the report is flipped over and turned upside down, the report is duplicated in French.

The annual report consists of several smaller reports and items such as a producer board report, market allotments, the proposed budget for the year, a list of elected directors, an export report, and several others. Also included with the annual report booklet is a producer plus basic quota list for 1999.

Handwritten letter from Rev. Salamon to Lavallée, on Qu’Appelle Indian School letterhead which has been crossed out and changed to say “Sacred Heart Rectory.” Rev. Salamon answers Lavallée’s questions. Apr. 8, 1978, Lebret, Sask. For further correspondence between Lavallée and Reverend Salamon see also PE000572 (F-2-0-0-11) and PE000574 (F-2-0-0-13).

Program for a lecture series held at the Knox Church, Winnipeg, Manitoba, titled “Sunday Evenings in Knox Church.” Includes a short letter from Minister Prof. F. W. Kerr.

Calendar designed for use in a Roman Catholic Cree mission.  Front side has the months, reverse explains how to use the calendar as well as displaying photographs of various people involved with the mission.  Calendar is creased across the centre.

Letters signed by R.P. Jean Seguin, Missionary at Fort Good Hope Mission in Notre Dame De Bonne Esperance, AB, to his abbe at the Semaine Religieuse, Clermont, France. All three letters are in very delicate and fragile condition; they are generally still legible despite the ink and paper having faded. Letters are dated as follows :

• 1. Letter dated February 11th, 1890 contains 2 pages.
• 2. Letter dated June 8th, 1892 contains 3 pages.
• 3. Letter dated February 11th, 1893 contains 2 pages.
     Enclosed are also two (2) issues of Le Semaine Religieuse de Clermont:
• 1. One issue is dated Saturday September 28, 1889; it includes pages 906-928. Page 912 contains a printing of the first part of a letter from Seguin. This issue is in very delicate and deteriorated condition. While it is still generally legible, it has a number of stains and the ink has faded significantly. There is much tear/wear damage along the edges, particularly the corners.
• 2. The other issue is dated October 5th, 1889. It includes pages 1930-1951. The concluding part of the letter is printed on pages 940-952.
     Additionally, there is a single detached page of an unclear publication likely dated 1888. It has the play "En route pour la mer glaciale" prominently circled. This is also in very delicate condition and has three parallel folding marks.

All contained in a 26 x 17cm cardboard folder wrapped in bright orange paper. It has a sticker that appears to have been cut in half that reads the name ‘Mackensie.’ The folder is in poor condition: it has a prominent rip on the lower left corner and shows strong signs of usage throughout.

• Fifteenth letter written by Valerien Gaudet to his parents and missionary friends. It outlines the itinerary of the young missionary’s journey to Bolivia, as he makes multiple stops to reach his destination. Dated March 15, 1955.,
• Missionary Pages - Dated July 9, 1958. Bulletin informing readers on recent missionary events such as the number of recent baptisms, social church events, religious commemorations, and overview on missionary excursions. Bulletin is in deteriorated condition and has a number of dirt stains throughout.
• Missionary Pages - Dated September 1958. This bulletin narrates a series of events from Sept 22-30, 1958 in the context of the mission in Lakota, Cote d’Ivoire. It commemorates this excursion by describing the weather, land, people, and activities. Bulletin is in deteriorated condition and has a number of dirt stains throughout.
• Single letter sized document dated 1960 published in Edmonton, AB. Title is “The Wonderful Adventure of the Bishop of the Prairies and the Great North.” This document informs of the recent publication of Monsieur Vital Grandin’s biography and gives readers the opportunity to purchase the book via correspondence.
• Letter-sized, undated document promoting the upcoming beatification of Bishop Vital Grandin. The letter requests that community members send photos, pamphlets or other relevant items to contribute to the ceremony. Signed Vice-Postulation O.M.I.,
• Letter-sized bulletin dated 1960 announcing the virtues and achievements of Grandin Vital in light of his newly announced beatification. It also includes information on the Catholic Women’s League and an enclosed section that users may fill out with information in order to purchase Grandin Vital’s recently published biography.
• Provincial Administration Bulletin informing congregation members of the recent authorization to go on a pilgrimage in Europe. Dated January 11, 1961. Signed by Guy Michaud, O.M.I. Edmonton, AB.
• Single sheet that appears to be the continuation of a newsletter. It includes updates on several members of the Missionary cause who have engaged in new projects. It is dated 1964.
• Newsletter created by the Dioceses of Labrador-Schefferville. Dated August 20, 1968. Letter includes updates on new oblates and discussions on scheduling ceremonies according to the weather forecast.
• Bulletin N. 5 - This volume discusses the virtues of Father Albini and commemorations to follow. Dated May 30, 1969.
• Bulletin N. 6 - Report on the positive outcome of a relating to the virtues of Monseigneur de Mazenod. Dated February 10, 1970.
• Title - "Growing together in Christ." This is a two page overview of the purpose of the Church in Edmonton.
• Two (2) copies of a letter to congregation members informing them of the upcoming elections to take place at the Provincial Chapter. Signed by M. Latour, O.M.I. 
• Single sheet titled "Manitoba." It is a letter to the brothers of the “Messenger” congratulating him on his work and recent newspaper submission, and includes an account of the early missionary days of the writer. It is signed Brother Omer Bruyere, O.M.I., Indian Residential School, McIntosh, Ont. The back of the page features a page-length map of Canada and the provinces existent at that time.
• Single sheet with short narrations on two missions: one in Pekangikum, an Ojibwe settlement in Ontario, and one in North Spirit Lake, an Ojibwe-Cree settlement. Content includes number of baptisms and first communions, church buildings, and conversion details.

The cover has a silver design of the Ukrainian Orthodox cross. The first few pages contain writing in Ukrainian, and include two ink drawings: one of the crucified Christ being gazed upon by three people; one depicting a woman kneeling in prayer in front of a cross in the jungle. The remaining pages contain blank lines for writing the names of the dead. 

The card is decorated with a picture of the Madonna and Child, printed in colour with a white border. The back of the card contains a stamp bearing the information of the church which provided it. It states: Compliments of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Fr. Stephan Semotiuk, Dean. Ph: (403) 421-0258. Located in Edmonton, AB. A hand written note in pen above this states the phone number for the CKUA radio station. 

Book titled: "General Act of the Canonical Visitation of the St. Mary’s Province of Regina by V. R. Father Joseph Rousseau, O.M.L., Procurator General to the Holy See. March-June 1942."  Book outlines observations made by Father Joseph Rousseau during his Canonical Visitation, and the recommendations and regulations made in response to his observations. His regulations mainly involve the clergy and other church members of the area he visited. Printed by Marian Press, Regina.

Book titled: "Mandements du 1er Eveque de Gravelbourg" (translated: Orders of the First Bishop of Gravelbourg). Front cover is blank, with the title only on the spine. Written in both English and French, this book contains the pastoral letters and circulars to the clergy written by J. M. Rodrigue Villeneuve. Book also has a table of contents at the back. Interior title page states: Lettres pastorals et Circulaires au clergé de Son Excellence Mgr J.-M. Rodrigue Villeneuve, O.M.I. premier Evêque de Gravelbourg, Volume 1.

Point Douglas Church & Maple Street Mission Anniversary Concert Program.  A single, typewritten sheet listing the twenty-three (23) performances of April 9, 1929.  Performances included vocal solos, readings, violin solos, the Atlantic Avenue Male Voice Quartet, and a one-act play titled “Maggie Keeps House.”

Program for the Manitoba Sunday School Association’s 29th Annual Convention, held in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The events program is divided by day and time (afternoon, evening ,etc.).

Describes the program for “A Character Sketch Entitled ‘The Minister’s Bride’.” To be “given by the Young People of St. Paul’s Methodist Sunday School, Hillhurst, in the school hall, on Friday March 15th, 1918 at eight o’clock.” Includes a description of the scenes and identification of the performers.

Contains a full script for the consecration ceremony of Michael A. Harrington as Bishop of Kamloops, and a list of officers involved. The consecration was performed on Thursday, November 20, 1952 by James Charles Cardinal McGuigan, Archbishop of Toronto. Photo of Harrington on p. 2.

A collection of envelopes previously containing correspondence received by residential schools in Manitoba, Canada. 45 addressed to the "Pine Creek Indian Residential School" in Camperville, two addressed to the "Sandy Bay Indian School" in Marius, and one addressed to "Ebb and Flow Indian School" in Reedy Creek.

The original manuscript for Prairie Manna: A Brief History of the United Church of Canada in Southern Saskatchewan during the Thirties by [R.] A. Collins. The manuscript was finished in March 1962, and at the time the author was part of the Bowness United Church in Calgary, Alberta. The purpose of the essay is to document and highlight the contributions made by the United Church of Canada to various communities in southern Saskatchewan. The author gathered information from numerous different sources about the United Church of Canada and also provided information on southern Saskatchewan's historical and economic background.

Front-page article, with black and white [B&W] photographs of the Peace River District [including images of Spirit River and Fort Vermilion, boats [ferry], homesteads, horse-drawn carriages and sleighs, and various church activities and clerical figures], submitted by the Bishop of Athabasca of the Peace River District. Stresses the increasing and urgent need for more missionary activity in the Peace River District Diocese to keep up with the amount of homesteaders moving to the area.

Publishers are John Lovell & Son, Montreal, 1881. The cover is a dark green with gold writing, as well as drawings of plants and bugs. Cover itself is very thin and delicate. Inside is a pull-out map titled "Public Lands, also its Geographical Relation to the British Islands." Book contains 19 pages describing the new route from Europe to the interior of North America. Includes a page which lists the Board of Provisional Directors for the company, as well as its address.

Flyer titled “Fifty Years of Progress: 1889 – 1939,” telling the story of the creation of the Lethbridge, Alberta, Board of Trade and the board’s role in the development of the local airport, Kenyon Field. The back of the flyer is titled “Autographs” and features the signatures of pilots who flew in the air show celebrating the opening of Kenyon Field: Charles E. Selge, Charles Zmuda, George Starr and Arthur Davis.

Royal Alexandra Hotel Guest Book from 1915.  Blue paper cover with the name of the hotel letter-pressed in gold ink on the front, and an advertisement for Blackwoods Dry Ginger Ale and Blackwoods Aero-distilled Drinking Water printed in black ink on the back cover. Inside the front cover is an advertisement for The Princess candy store.  Inside are forty (40) pages of glossy white paper bordered with a repeating maple leaf pattern printed in pale blue ink.  The left page is usually an advertisement for a local business, with the opposing page giving information and an image for a local Winnipeg attraction.  “This book designed and compiled for and with the approval of the Royal Alexandra Hotel by G. E. Webb” and printed by Sulman Bros. Ltd in Winnipeg.

Book titled: 1905-1955 After Fifty Years Mendham. Book contains 16 pages detailing the beginnings of Mendham and its progression over 50 years. Contains stories, (including one in German), poems, b&w photographs of life in the village, and advertisements of supporters of the book. Cover is a dark yellow, and contains a small b&w photograph of the village on the front. Inside the front cover is a forward from the Mendham Teachers and Pupils. The inside back cover notes it’s for autographs, though this particular book’s autograph page is blank. Book has been dedicated to the brave pioneers of the prairies.

Drumheller District Tourist Guide put together by the Drumheller Junior Chamber of Commerce. It is divided in six sections and the back side of the document opens into a 45.5 x 29.5 cm map of the area, which marks the regions with their thriving industries. There is also a close-up map of the city of Drumheller. The triptych includes a directory for Drumheller, statistical information, tourist attractions, and historical facts.

List of Dominion Lands Agents and Sub-Agents in Western Canada pamphlet.  Corrected to February 1, 1903.  Lists Names, Addresses, and Districts of those “who are authorized to grant homestead entries and prepared at all times to give information to intending settlers.”

Pamphlet for Lindenberg Bros. seed growers. Pamphlet is green and includes a message to customers, and a thorough list of prices for various produce. It also contains a listing of Lindenberg’s flower seeds and an order form.

Pamphlet put together by the Steele Briggs Seed Co.  It provides an overview of the uses and benefits of the Dwarf Essex rape plant. The cover includes an illustration of sheep and the publisher information.

Created by the United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service, this 8-page tourist pamphlet includes rules, geology, descriptions, activities, warnings, medical and other services. Once the pamphlet is completely unfolded it reveals a detailed map of the park and its surroundings.

Advertising brochure, issued by the Tea Kettle Inn of Calgary, Alberta, which promotes Calgary as a tourist destination. The brochure includes background on Calgary in general, and detail on particular tourist attractions in the city. A substantial portion of the item, however, concentrates on promoting the Tea Kettle Inn specifically to tourists, including a photo of the Inn’s kitchen and an illustration of the business’ exterior.

Advertising booklet for a camping trip to the Canadian Rockies being organized by Caroline Hinman of New Jersey. The booklet describes the route and basic itinerary of the planned trip, the qualifications of the organizer, and provides a brief overview of the pricing structure for the trip. The back cover carries a list of previous members of the organizer’s prior trips. The sheet affixed inside the booklet provides a list of suggested personal equipment for those intending to join the trip.

Promotional booklet on the Canadian Rockies and Jasper, released by Canadian National Railways. The bulk of the booklet provides background and description of major landmarks in the Rockies from the point of view of the prospective tourist, with the remainder of the text being devoted to describing tourist accommodations along the CNR line through the mountains. Also included are a list of available gold courses, an advertisement for Canadian National Railways Hotels, and a list of worldwide agency representatives for the company. Amongst the photographs and illustrations contained in the booklet, depicting area landmarks and accommodations, are color paintings by Emily Carr.

Promotional booklet which illustrates the Maligne lake region, located in Jasper National Park, south of Jasper. Includes text extolling the natural beauty of the area, and a number of color illustrations of the lake environs. Additionally included is a map of the area, showing the position of the lake relative to Jasper and nearby highways.

Informational booklet on the feeding of fur-bearing animals such as minks and foxes, although the bulk of the booklet contents promote the products of the booklet’s publisher, Anderson Grain & Feed Co., Ltd. Much of the booklet is taken up by advertisements for animal rations and supplements produced by the company, as well as other sundry farm supplies. The remainder of the content serves to complement the advertisements, by providing information such as user testimonials, or lists of ingredients found within company products; also included are some tips on animal nutrition, and a chart of fox breeding and whelping dates.

Poster advertisement for a public auction of “Cattle, Harness, Farm Machinery and Household Effects”, to be held in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. A list of the items to be offered for auction is featured on the poster, as are the terms for payment.

Includes copy promoting ice cream as food for a king, explaining “why ice cream is good for you,” and encouraging farmers to sell their cream to purity. Also includes photos of the Purity Dairy Company plant in Saskatoon.

Advertisement for Bulman Bros. Ltd. “Lithographers, Printers, Photographers and Ticket Specialists.” Includes a print of an 1882 photograph of Drewry’s Redwood Brewery in Winnipeg. “No. 3 in a Series.” Small calendar for April 1952.

A travel brochure advertising the Astoria Hotel in Jasper, Alberta. The hotel was owned and operated by George Andrews and his sons and marketed itself as open all year round. The brochure claims that guests will “be impressed with the homelike atmosphere and personalized attention [they] will receive.” The Astoria Hotel, which still stands today, is located very centrally in Jasper. The brochure lists the prices of different kinds of rooms and also provides information about various sightseeing tours and services provided by the hotel. The brochure was printed by Bulman Bros. Ltd. in Winnipeg.

Three advertisement cards for the Liebig’s Extract of Meat Company. The company was started in the United Kingdom and named after Baron Justice Von Liebig, the organic chemist who developed this particular method of beef extract. The images on the fronts of the cards depict various Canadian scenes with information on the back describing the scenes, as well as some information about the meat extract product. The backs of the cards also have printed blue signatures of Justice Von Lieberg, the company’s namesake and director. The first card depicts the Canadian Pacific railway. The second card depicts a camp of fur trappers near Mount Robson in the Rocky Mountains. The third card depicts “Lentil Lake” in the Rocky Mountains, although the French translation for this card may not be entirely accurate, as “lentilles d’eau” can also mean “duckweed.”

Print advertisement encouraging the purchase of shares in the Nakamun Asphalt and Oil Co., Ltd. The final page of pamphlet is a blank form of application to purchase shares.

A short paper book titled “Sport in Manitoba” by Miller Christy. The book was published in 1888 by Turner & Dunnett, Printers in Liverpool, England. The book discusses various animals, methods, and locations for hunting in Manitoba. Throughout the book, there are several illustrations of hunters, animals, and outdoor scenes.

Contains saddles, harness parts and accessories, riding accessories [halters and hackamores; bridles; stirrups; reins; cutting and riding whips; saddle blankets; chaps, scabbards, slicker; ropes and lariats; bull calf and cow halters; and bits and spurs], Western wear [clothing, roper gloves, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats], Western home goods and gift suggestions, veterinary instruments, and vaccines.

Advertisement letter addressed to Icelandic Lutheran, in care of Social Secretary. Recommends hosting a "Toboggan Party" at River Park Toboggan Co. as part of their program for outdoor sports. Lists rates for parties of up to and over 35 persons and contact information.

An advertisement calendar for "Public Lunch, Wong Pong Prop., Best Eating Place in Town" in Olds, Alberta. Two logos for different Buckingham tobacco products are printed in the bottom left and right corners. Art print is a painting of a woman in a chair with a little boy holding a toy elephant and sitting in her lap while they both look at a yellow bird singing in a hanging cage. It is captioned "Mother's Hour" and the artist's signature has been slightly cropped out but the surname may be "Hintermeister." The print can be lifted from the bottom and underneath is a "List of Premiums" that can be paid for with certain collectable cigarette cards. Calendar contains moon phase information.

The “44th Annual List of Popular Books and Other Goods from Russell-Lang’s, Western Canada’s oldest and best bookshop.” The bookshop was located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the booklet is for the 1924-1925 season. The bookstore, officially named Russell-Lang & Co, Ltd., is listed as opening in 1880. The booklet is divided into sections based primarily on genre, although some sections are based on age or book series. Several books are listed in each category along with the author’s name, the price, and a general comment about the book. Near the back of the booklet are four order forms that recipients of the booklet can tear out and send to the bookstore.

A booklet from The Tuttle Land Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, titled “Evidence.” The company sells and rents out farmland. The booklet includes various testimonies from farmers and photographs of farms and farmers in the Macoun-Halbrite District in Saskatchewan. The photographs were taken in the Fall of 1911. The purpose of the booklet is to provide evidence that scientific farming produces results and that “Farming Pays” in the district. The Tuttle Land Company advertises their propositions such as securing renters from their customer's land, refunding money to farmers who purchase their land and cultivate at least 75% of it, and they will refund car fare and expenses to anyone who inspects their land and is unsatisfied. The final page of the booklet includes a cropped photograph print of the private train car owned by The Tuttle Land Company.

An advertisement for the Mount Royal Hotel in Banff, Alberta. Includes "Facts and Figures," a list of names of surrounding mountains and their peak altitudes, distance (in miles) from various Rocky Mountain locations, photographs, and mentions of other amenities and offerings. Manager N. H. Murray's name has been crossed out, and "Bert McCallum, Manager" printed underneath. Date estimate is dealer-provided.

A 1926 Riley & McCormick, Limited catalogue titled “Cowboy Equipment Harness Saddles Catalogue No. 10.” The catalogue is from 1926 and the company was located in Calgary, Alberta. The catalogue provides instructions for ordering products or cancelling orders. The rest of the catalogue consists of illustrations of various products sold by Riley & McCormick, Limited along with short descriptions of each. The products listed in the catalogue range from saddles, to leather chapps, to hats, to harnesses. The final two pages of the catalogue are tearaway order forms that can be sent to the company.

A strip of paper residue indicates where the calendar pad was attached, but it is no longer present. The area that would have been behind it shows the months in a 4x3 grid and information on the art print and the artist, Charlie Russell.

The brochure provides information about the company, the unique features of their buildings, their building locations, and the commitments of the company. The brochure includes numerous photographs of the homes they’ve built as well as a copy of a handwritten note from the company stating they are excited to start this journey with the potential buyer.
