Book titled "A New Route from Europe to the Interior of North America with a Description of Hudson’s Bay and Straights," issued by the Nelson Valley Railway and Transportation Company, Montreal. Publishers are John Lovell & Son, Montreal, 1881. The cover is a dark green with gold writing, as well as drawings of plants and bugs. Cover itself is very thin and delicate. Inside is a pull-out map titled "Public Lands, also its Geographical Relation to the British Islands." Book contains 19 pages describing the new route from Europe to the interior of North America. Includes a page which lists the Board of Provisional Directors for the company, as well as its address.

A pocket-sized green notepad. Labelled “Convention Notes” followed by a crest for the National School Service Institute.  The notepad is compliments of Moyer School Supplies Limited with the tagline “Canada’s School Furnishers since 1884.” The sheets are unlined. The first page is a list of names followed by street addresses. Most of the names are women. The following pages are filled with diary entries detailing a trip taken from Winnipeg to California via train over several days in July of an unknown year. The writer is unknown but mentions heavy flooding in Kansas City. The rest of the notebook is blank.

Election campaign pamphlet titled “Unity means VICTORY” for Mrs. Dorise W. Nielsen, United Progressive Candidate.  Pencilled note reads “elected to House of Commons for North Battleford March 26, 1940.”  Printed on a single sheet of newsprint, folded in half.  Includes a personal message from the candidate and a summary of the United Progressive platform.  Under “Timely Reminders,” the writer assures voters that “This election, the ballot paper will be thick enough that marking cannot be seen through.”  The reader is warned the campaign is off to a dirty start, with a “prominent Liberal platform speaker” serving a final writ of foreclosure on the Nielsen farm, acting without consent of the mortgage company. The agenda for the First Annual Meeting of Supporters of New National Policy, Kindersley Constituency, held in Rosetown, SK.  This broadsheet shows shadows of the letters of another document, but is still legible.  The all-day meeting included selections by Clearwater Band, an opening address from Mayor Taylor of Rosetown, and addresses from R. M. Johnson, W. H. Harvey M.L.A., Mrs. McNaughton, A. M. Wick, “and others.”  The group’s president was R. Fenerty and vice-president was E. R. Powell. The "New National Policy" advocated free trade in direct opposition to the pro-tariff "National Policy" of the Tory federal government.

Back portion contains the biographical details of Harry Strynadka, as well as contact details for the NDP committee rooms. Writing at the bottom notes the pamphlet was printed by Co-op Press Limited.

Typed letter from Alberta Premier Ernest Manning to an unidentified farmer. The subject of the letter is identified as “Re:- Agricultural Advances 1931 to 1935 inclusive.” In this letter, Premier Manning cancels over $800 000 of debt to help the farmer “enter the coming Post War period with a clean slate.”

Poster reads: "Public Auction in the Supreme Court of the North-West Territories Judicial District of Eastern Assiniboia, Between David Greig, (Plaintiff), and William Grieg, (or Greigg), (Defendant)…I shall offer for sale by Public Auction, at my office in the Court House, in the Town of Moosomin, [SK] on Saturday, the 10th day of August, A.D. 1901, AT THE HOUR OF Twelve O’clock noon, the South-east Quarter of Section Fourteen )14), in Township Fifteen (15), in Range Thirty (3), West of the First Meridian, in the North-West Territories." Bears two stamps on the back side from the Supreme Court of East Assiniboia, and the Supreme Court of the N.W.T. The former from April 1901, the latter from October 1901.

Contains four (4) pages of written instructions and four (4) pages of photographed examples.  The textured gray paper of the cover is bound to the booklet by two staples.

Pamphlet titled “A Plan to Reduce Wheat Acreage and Make More Money Available for Necessary War Supplies.”  Printed for the Honourable J. G. Gardiner, Minister of Agriculture, in Ottawa by Edmond Cloutier, Printer to the King’s Most Excellent Majesty. This pamphlet explains that due to the bumper wheat crops of 1939 and 1940, and the costs associated with maintaining wheat reserves in excess of predicted need, the Canadian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, will pay wheat farmers to reduce wheat acreage for the 1941 growing season.  This policy is described as a temporary measure.  Several example calculations are given to illustrate the compensation scheme.

This letter is printed on cream legal-size paper watermarked with the provincial crest.  It explains that permanent residents of Alberta over twenty-one (21) with Canadian or British citizenship are eligible for a payment of $17.50 for the year 1958.  Printing was done by L. S. Wall, “Printer to the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty” in Edmonton, AB.

In the background is a prairie scene with cattle and additional mounted men. Magazine is 24 pages in length and includes illustrations, and one large map. Magazine also issued in English under the title: "Canada West: Canada, the New Homeland." Both versions issued by the Dept. of the Interior.

Diary of Mrs. O.R. Olson (1947-1949). The cover has Daily Universal Diary printing on it. The first page has been ripped off. Each page corresponds to a day, and the writer has divided each page into three sections so that she may use this diary for three years, although her entries for the final year (1949) are very few (she began a new diary shortly after the first few days of 1949). The handwriting is in cursive generally legible. The content describes the weather, daily routines, and events such as social visits, deaths, etc. The latter entries are comprised of a few financial records, addresses, notes, to-do lists.

Note addressed to Mr. T.L. “Tommy” Robertson, Boy Scout Headquarters, 42456 or 83504 Ave. Letter is divided into 5 sections, each dealing with slightly different issues. The first section talks about the number of copies needed for Campcraft & Handicraft, the second mentions an unnamed person not receiving booklets, the third refers to the opinion of Mr. Robertson, the fourth regards changes to a section, and the fifth mentions adding the topic of fencing and contacting the Toedol Fencing & Archery Club. It is signed by a Mrs. Mathews.

Hartnett.  Printed in black ink, the cover features a reproduction of “Roaring Western Frolic,” a Western-themed artwork.  Interior caption explains the reproduction is from the original 17” x 38” picture done in 1916 by Edward Borein, part of a group of six (6) owned by Mr. & Mrs. Hartnett.  “Wishing you the Warmest of Season’s Greetings / A Meaningful Christmas, and a / Prosperous New Year . . .” Interior greeting is printed in black ink.

Leather bound book detailing the unique account of Manitoba farm life from May 25, 1893 - Oct/Nov. 1896 for a visiting English farm laborer, John Maddock. Is a duplicated typescript with an endnote dating the typescript to 1964.  Final page contains the signature of a D. Maddock. Contains 70 leaves printed only on one side. Details John Maddock’s emigration from Ashton, Lancashire to Verden, (Virden), Manitoba.
