The “44th Annual List of Popular Books and Other Goods from Russell-Lang’s, Western Canada’s oldest and best bookshop.” The bookshop was located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the booklet is for the 1924-1925 season. The bookstore, officially named Russell-Lang & Co, Ltd., is listed as opening in 1880. The booklet is divided into sections based primarily on genre, although some sections are based on age or book series. Several books are listed in each category along with the author’s name, the price, and a general comment about the book. Near the back of the booklet are four order forms that recipients of the booklet can tear out and send to the bookstore.

A unique item, being a copy book, by which a letter- writer could make what was in essence a carbon copy on tissue paper of a hand-written letter. This book contains 100 pages, almost all of which contain letters written during the stated period. All are from the pen of Mcdougall, Everett, who lived in Winnipeg in a rented house at 493 Maryland Street. Most of the letters deal with Mr. Mcdougall's financial problems and his attempts to obtain employment especially with grand Trunk Pacific. He was forthrightly seeking a position as master of one of the company's new steamers. Other letters deal with his attempts to sell, or deal with real estate he owned or for which he had some financial obligation. There are also a number of letters of personal nature to relatives. In all, there must be 60 or 70 copies of letters. His penmanship is not fancy but rather plain and easily read.

1 page of a promotional and informational pamphlet issued by the Hudson’s Bay Company. One side of the paper is about Farm Lands for Sale in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. The other side is an advertisement for Mackenzie River Transport.

The booklet was issued by the Hudson’s Bay Company regarding the appointment of Lord Anson as a director, the reelection of three other directors, including Governor Eden Colvile. Comments by Donald Smith, having recently driven the last spike, Canadian Pacific Railway.

A letter from Christie Grant Limited’s general manager to an unknown recipient who, according to the letter, received the Christie Grant seasonal catalogues but placed no orders. The letter urges the recipient to purchase items from the upcoming catalogue and guarantees their satisfaction with any chosen product. Enclosed is also a Christie Grant postcard for the recipient to mail back and request a catalogue or change their address.

A deed of land based in Winnipeg, Manitoba which is largely blank other than four signatures. Two from someone named Rod MacPherson and two from someone named James McBarrister. No dates, costs, or land locations are mentioned or filled out.

The president’s report from the annual meeting of the Qu’Appelle Valley Farming Co. Limited, proprietors of the Bell Farm, on January 9, 1884, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The report was printed by the “Times” Steam Book and Job Printing House. The report covers various subjects such as cultivation, improvements, the town site, squatters, expenditure and receipts, and a colonization scheme.

A letter on a prepaid Canada letter card addressed to Professor A. B. Baird at Manitoba College and written on April 10th, 1902. Andrew Browning Baird (1855-1940) was a Presbyterian minister who taught Church History at Manitoba College in Winnipeg, Manitoba starting in 1887. The letter is asking Professor Baird to send a college calendar to Mr. [Alex] McCoubrey in Crandall, Manitoba.

A handwritten letter addressed to Missers Wilson Alexander in Rothesay, Scotland on The Evans Gold Cure Institute 16th Year stationary. The institute was located in Winnipeg, Manitoba claimed to provide the cure for the “Liquor, Morphine and Tobacco Habits and Neurasthenia (Nerve Exhaustion).” The letter, written by J.W. Williams on November 22, 1910, discusses some business matters of money owed.

An insurance plan of the town of Banff, Alberta from November 1955. The population at the time of the insurance plan creation was 2850. The plan consists of a Master Title page, a Key of Sign page, and six detail sheets of the town. On the cover of the plan, there is a note indicating that the plan was made by and is the property of the Western Canada Insurance Underwriters’ Association and this particular plan is copy No. 67. The plan was created in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each page of the detail sheets displays various streets and buildings in the town of Banff, Alberta and the colour of each building indicates the type of construction material used for that particular building.

A souvenir book of drawings of significant locations and buildings in Winnipeg, Manitoba. All of the drawings are on one page that expands. Some examples of the drawings in the book are the Leland House, St. John’s College, the General Hospital, Holy Trinity Church, and Knox Church. The images were done by Louis Glaser of Leipzig and New York. The caption inside the album reads "Ent. acc. to Act of Parliament, in the year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Nine, by the Toronto News Company, in the Office of the Minister of Agriculture."

The printed text of a speech delivered by the Honourable Zachariah Chandler of Michigan in the Senate of the United States on April 22, 1870. The subject of the speech was the proposed annexation of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The speech was a proposal for the President of the United States to appoint two or more diplomatic commissioners to open a dialogue with the people of Winnipeg, Manitoba and propose the annexation of the city as a territory or state of the United States. Throughout the speech, several responses from others are recorded such as the vice-president, but the majority of the content was said by Zachariah Chandler. The President of the United States at the time of this speech was Ulysses S. Grant. The pamphlet was printed at the Office of the Congressional Globe.

A school paper, reminiscent of a yearbook, from Kelvin Technical High School in Winnipeg, dated April 1926. Includes stories, poetry, photographs, athletics reports, and advertisements for local businesses, as well as general information about the school and a list of the editorial staff. This copy appears to have belonged to Margaret Forsyth, and the inside of the front cover and first page are covered with classmate signatures.

A mounted photograph of a returning [Manitoban?] soldier dressed in a South African [Boer] War uniform and slouch hat. The soldier is also wearing a bandolier and holding a rifle. The medal pinned to the soldier's chest closely resembles and is possibly the Queen's South Africa Medal, the campaign medal awarded to those who served in the Boer War.

2 men sit in armchairs across from each other with a table between them. They are in a room crowded with many furnishings and with many decorative items and images mounted to the walls behind them. The room is identified by the stereocard's title as a bachelor's parlor.
