Photograph depicts a view of Soper's Inuit assistants, Kakivou and Ashuna, building the cache near the geographical cairn at Camp Kungovik prior to the day of departure from that point. The cache, consisting of scientific specimens, equipment, and provisions, was being left behind to be picked up the following winter by a party of Inuits and taken to the Hudson's Bay Company Fort at Cape Dorset. The Union Jack flag was left flying to assist the Inuits in finding the cache the following winter.
