PE002323 - Photographs and newspaper clipping from Mrs. Sarah Webb’s 100th and 105th birthdays

A small series of photographs of Mrs Sarah Webb’s 100th and 105th birthday celebrations. The newspaper clipping, which includes a B&W group photograph of friends and family surrounding Mrs Webb, is from 1967 and recounts Mrs Webb’s 100th birthday celebration. Her birthday is listed as July 30th, 1867. The clipping states that Mrs. Webb was born in England, and moved to Saskatchewan in 1908. At the time of her 100th birthday, she was residing in Kaslo, BC. The newspaper clipping indicates that Percy Orrell took the photo. The loose B&W photos show Mrs Webb’s 100th birthday celebration where she was presented with roses and a certificate signed by the late Governor-General Vanier and Miss Judy Lamarsh. The colour photos show Mrs. Webb seated in front of a large white sheet cake and the writing on the cake indicates it is her 105th birthday. Included in the collection is a yellow envelope addressed to Mr. Percy Orrell in Mirror Lake, B.C. from the photo department at the Nelson Daily News in Nelson, B.C.
