This leaflet, originally inserted in a First World War military book, asks the question: “Which book will you buy for the blind man?” and features a color illustration of a blind man being handed a braille book. On verso, there is a printed appeal from C. Arthur Pearson, Honorary Treasurer of the newly established National Institute for the Blind, asking for donations to fund the purchase of equipment to bring down the cost of printing braille books. On the bottom of the page is a place to write your name, address, and amount pledged for the Institute. C. Arthur Pearson was a noted publisher, writer and newspaper man, but began to lose his sight due to glaucoma in 1908. He published his Pearson’s Easy Dictionary in braille in 1912, and became President of the National Institute for the Blind in 1914. He was a successful fundraiser for the Institute as these leaflets might attest to, increasing the income from £8,000 to £360,000 in only eight years. Pearson went on to establish the St. Dunstan’s Home for soldiers blinded in the First World War, where men were offered vocational training in an effort to help them regain their independence and return to the workforce.

The book includes several maps and graphs demonstrating the ground conditions and varying elevations of the railway route.

"A Handbook of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg" prepared by the Publication Committee of the Winnipeg Local Executive Committee to present to the members of the British Association for the Advancement of Science for their visit from August 25 to September 1, 1909 (with options for extension based on member interests). Includes a proposed program and tentative itinerary, photographs, meteorological observations, information on locations within Winnipeg, Manitoba including a map marked with "probable meeting places," and another fold-out colored map of Canada.

The fourteenth annual Vegreville Summer Fair Prize list and Exhibition Guide which was held in Vegreville, Alberta, from July 28 to July 30, 1930. The guide includes two entry forms, one for livestock and one for all departments aside from livestock, that could be submitted to the exhibition before July 25, 1930. The book includes information about the rules and regulations for the exhibition, prize options for the different livestock categories, and prize options for the various agriculture and horticulture categories. The booklet also includes various advertisements for local businesses.

Information on the grain trade in Canada, prior to World War I but after the establishment of the Grain Act, and in-depth proposals for its improvement. Subtitle reads "Conditions which make such a system necessary. A detail of the system showing its practicability. Results of such a system in operation."

A collection of documents titled “Record and Analysis for Settlement Purposes of Business Transaction Between C.J. McFadden and D.J. McFadden.” There is one document for each year and ranges from 1949 to 1983. Several documents include supplementary reports or notes stapled to them. The majority of the documents are divided into two parts. Part I outlines debits to Donald J. McFadden for transactions involving grain, labour, and miscellaneous items. Part II outlines credits to Donald J. McFadden for transactions involving labour, seed, fertilizer, and chemicals. At the end of the majority of the documents, there is a summary of the transactions and the balance that is either owed or needs to be acquired. As the years progress the documents also include cost calculations for the use of specific agricultural machinery.

"Publication No. 269." Agricultural information on corn, sugar beets, field peas, sunflowers, soybeans, rape seed, and safflower, specific to the province of Manitoba. Topics include adaptation, varieties, land preparation, cultivation, harvesting, diseases and pests, etc.

"Publication No. 699, Circular No. 164." A brief informational brochure on different types of root rot diseases, as well as "Prematurity Blight," and how they affect cereal crops.

A reprinted section of Vol. 31 of a periodical titled "Scientific Agriculture" providing information on cereal smuts. Consists primarily of the results of surveys and testing conducted on seed samples taken at random from farmers in Manitoba.

"Publication No. 150 (Third Edition)." Informational pamphlet on poultry meat production, including topics such as summer care, lice, fattening and overfeeding, killing, dressing, and scalding.

"Publication 842, Circular 187." A pamphlet, subtitled "Keep the Best and Sell the Rest," consisting primarily of photographs comparing the anatomy of laying and non-laying chickens.

A booklet titled “Equipment for Harvesting Hay and Silage” by WM. Kalbfleisch. The booklet was published by the Canada Department of Agriculture Experimental Farm Service in September 1949. The booklet is marked as Publication 826 and Farmers’ Bulletin 158. The booklet provides detailed information about various farm machines and equipment that are ideal for harvesting hay and silage. The booklet covers topics such as methods of collecting, hauling and storing hay and silage, using balers, forage crop harvesting methods, auxiliary equipment such as hay carts, wagon unloaders or hay blowers, and also provides an extensive appendix. The booklet includes various photographs of these different methods and machinery.

A booklet titled “Alfalfa for Hay, SIlage and Pasture” by the Forage Plants and Field Husbandry Divisions of the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa, Ontario and the Dominion Experimental Station in Lethbridge, Alberta. The booklet was published by the Dominion of Canada Department of Agriculture in Sept. 1948. The booklet is marked as Publication 735 and Farmers’ Bulletin 110. The booklet provides information about the different varieties of alfalfa, methods of growing alfalfa, harvesting methods, and how to use alfalfa as silage. The booklet includes various photographs of alfalfa varieties and fields, as well as harvesting methods. On the inside of the back cover page, there is a list of people involved with the Experimental Farm Service in Canada.

A booklet titled “Dominion Forest Nursery Stations Progress Report 1947-1952” by John Walker, Superintendent of the Dominion Forest Nursery Station in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, and W.L. Kerr, Superintendent of the Dominion Forest Nursery Station in Sutherland, Saskatchewan. The booklet was published by the Canada Department of Agriculture in 1954. The booklet outlines the tree-planting activities over a period of six years at the two Forestry Nursery Stations. The report outlines the distribution of trees for shelterbelt and hedge planting on farms, permanent plantations, farm shelterbelts, special cooperative projects, rodent control, publicity, and tree physiology.

A booklet titled “Ornamental Shrubs and Small Trees for the Canadian Prairies” by S.W. Edgecombe, an Associate Professor of Horticulture at the University of Manitoba. The booklet was published by Line Elevators Farm Service in April 1944, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The booklet covers topics such as the use of ornamental shrubs in home plantings, plant maintenance, and recommended shrubs and information about their care. Throughout the booklet, there are various photographs of shrubs and small trees. On the back cover page of the booklet, there is a list of sponsors. On the cover page "D. J. McFadden" is handwritten in the top right corner.

A booklet titled “Forage Crops and Stable Agriculture” by R. Whiteman, an Agronomist from the Manitoba Department of Agriculture. The booklet was published by the Manitoba Pool Elevators in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The booklet provides information about soil erosion, producing good quality hay, pasture production, and corn production in Manitoba, among other topics. On the cover page "D. J. McFadden" is handwritten under the title.

"Special Bulletin No. 2." Information on harvesting barley to maintain a malting grade. Includes photographs and illustrations of "cylinder and concave adjustments."

A booklet titled “Rapeseed: Canada’s “Cinderella’ Crop” published by the Rapeseed Association of Canada in April 1968. The booklet provides information about the origins and history of rapeseed plants, ideal growing conditions, varieties and species, seeding practices, and various diseases and pests that can affect plant growth. The booklet includes several information tables, maps, and photographs related to rapeseed and its production. The booklet ends with an acknowledgement statement from James McAnsh, the Executive Director of the Rapeseed Association of Canada. A booklet titled “Insect Pests and Diseases of Rape and Mustard” published by the Rapeseed Association of Canada in November 1977 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The booklet was prepared by Dr L. Burgess, Dr J. Dueck, Dr G.A. Petrie, and L.G. Putnam from the Agriculture Canada Research Station in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The booklet is an updated version of the booklet of the same name from 1972 and provides information about the various insects and diseases that can affect rapeseed and mustard plants at all stages of growth. Each insect and disease is described and accompanied by a colour photograph. The booklet also provides solutions for mitigating or preventing these pests. There are several updates from the previous booklet to include more insects and diseases.

The booklet was published by the Canola Council of Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba in June 1981 and is marked as Publication No. 59. This publication “assembles the latest research findings on the use of canola meal in rations for livestock and poultry.” The publication provides information about processing canola seed for quality meal, the composition of canola meal, canola meal for poultry, canola meal for pigs, and canola meal for beef and dairy cattle. Each section is written by various authors who are all listed on the last page of the publication.

A newsletter titled “Canola Digest” from the Canola Council of Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The newsletter, published monthly, is marked as Volume 14, No. 11 and was published in November 1980. The newsletter provides information about various topics related to canola oil such as stars at the Alberta Growers’ Convention, research funds for the council, the titles of the proposed research, an upcoming meeting for Saskatchewan growers, domestic production of deodorized oils, overseas clearances, and current canola production. Several information tables are included in the newsletter.

A commemorative collection of events, anecdotes, photographs, bible verses, and poems reflecting the history of the Alexander United Church in Alexander, Manitoba.

Two blank foldable order forms for Brathwaites Limited Wholesaler Department, a pharmacy in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Each order form has blank spaces where the sender can fill in their name, address, and preferred shipping method. Each order form also includes a blank table where the sender can list the medication they wish to purchase, the quantity, and the size. The forms fold into envelope shapes with prepaid postage of six (6) cents, a predetermined address for Brathwaites Limited, and several blank lines in the top left corner for a return address.

A Sing-a-Long songbook for the Canadian Empress steamboat. There are 50 songs included in the booklet. The songbook was compiled and prepared by Harvey McKend. Some of the songs included are titled “Coconuts,” “For Me and My Gal,” “The Man Who Broke the Bank,” and many others. On the inside of the front cover page, there are two advertisements for the Empress Bar and the Empress Corner Store. On the inside of the back cover page, there is an advertisement for Canadian Empress Steamboat Vacations on the St. Lawrence River, and the main office is located in Kingston, Ontario.

An informational booklet on livestock feeds and advertising the products of the Co-op's Feed Division. Includes sections for poultry, hogs, and cattle. Laid-in between pages 42-43 are two brochures on turkey blackhead disease, both advertising a drinking-water treatment called "Histane."

A brochure titled "Colds Pay No Profits!" on the use of "Duatok Sulfanthiazole Sodium Soluble Powder" to treat coryza (colds) in chickens. Includes a list of advantages, usage instructions, precautions, and information on coryza.

A one page advertisement for various poultry-related farm implements from Miller Hatcheries, "Home of Champion Chicks & Poults Since 1917." Products include turkey saddles, "Never-Pick" bits and applicator, and the "LYON Super Debeaker." A series of calculations are written in light blue ink on the verso.

Includes information on the Rahr family, locations, an illustrated cross-section of a tower malthouse, and a list of the company's key strengths. A small souvenir diagram of a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator. The diagram is formed in the shape of a grain elevator and when the diagram is opened, the inside workings and mechanisms of a grain elevator are colourized and labelled. Also inside the diagram is a short description of how a wheat elevator functions and lists notable highlights of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. The diagram was created for the Saskatchewan Centennial in 2005.

Undated meeting minutes for a Maniotba Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board meeting. The minutes are dated October 25, but no year is included. The meeting was held in the Co-op Board Room at 1700 Portage Ave in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The minutes list the members present at the meeting. The topics discussed at this meeting include backfat requirements on turkey toms, a financial statement for the levy account, a potential plan for quota permits, and several motions regarding various upcoming meetings with other organizations.

The majority of the meetings were held at 1700 Portage Ave and 1200 King Edward Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
