Photo depicts Cree Indians signing treaty at Rocky Mountain House in front of the Legion Hall on May 25, 1944. Henry Stelfox, seated at the right of the table, was one of the witnesses as was Constable A.M. White, R.C.M.P., standing in front row centre. The treaty signed at Rocky Mountain House is an adhesion to Treaty 6, and was presided over by commissioners Malcolm McCrimmon and John Lothrop Grew. The Indian chiefs who signed were L. Sun Child, J. Yellow Eyes and a third chief who signed in Cree script and cannot be identified. Witnesses other than the two identified and mentioned above include John R. White, the Reverend N.A. MacKenzie and the Reverend R.K. Peck.
