General note
Photocopies of the winning entries were obtained from Guinness in 1981; probably during a trip to London. The original (non-winning) manuscripts were probably obtained at the same time. This series was boxed and filed separately from the rest of the collection and so it was possible to restore much of the original order. Some items were apparently removed by Arnold and can be found in Series 5 (Literary Manuscripts). Cover letters are included with the submissions.
General note
The Guinness Literary Contest ran between August and November of 1978, with awards being given in December. It was originally proposed to publish an anthology of the winning entries but this was apparently never done. The categories of entry were Radio Plays, Poetry, and Short Stories.
