General note

View of a large group, including military personnel, family members and performing artists at Shorncliffe, 23 July 1916. In his diary entry, SBS writes that he, Maye and Gertrude had been invited to a lunch given by Colonel Burland and officers of the Military School to meet the performing artists "who are to give us the benefit of their talents at a concert for charity in the local theatre." Steele goes on to state that "the artists are leading ones."
