Leaflet titled "War Information Bureau." Sheet discusses the war effort and the maintenance of an adequate food supply. Provides contact information for the Information Bureau, under the Department of Agriculture. It is signed by Martin Burrell, who was Minister of Agriculture from 1911-1917.
Page is quite ragged around the edges, with many tears and folds. Writing is still very legible.

Book titled: "Notes Historiques sue la vie de P.E. de Radisson. Par L.A Prud’Homme." (translated: Historical notes on the life of P.E. de Radisson by L.A Prud’Homme). The cover consists only of a rust-colored sheet of paper with a black border. The interior and cover consist of thin paper, and are quite fragile. The 60 pages which make up the interior are entirely in French, and there is a copyright note on the back stating Prud’Homme followed the rules set down by the Parliament of Canada and the Minister of Agriculture in Ottawa. Bottom of front cover indicates the printer/publisher: Imprimerie de L’agriculteur, Saint Boniface Man.

Book titled: "Weeds: Their Identification and Control." Above the title it says: "Government of the Province of Saskatchewan." There is a price of 10 cents indicated below the title, and it was published under direction of the Hon. C.M. Hamilton, Minister of Agriculture. Printed in Regina by J. W. Reid, King’s Printer.
The first interior page notes that this is Bulletin No. 57, and was written by M.P. Tullis, Field Crops Commissioner. It is also noted that this is the third edition. 54 pages within the book contain information regarding weeds found in Saskatchewan, including drawings for identification. At the back there are 8 pages detailing the Saskatchewan Revised Statutes of 1920, chapter 167, regarding noxious weeds. A large purple faded stamp on the top of the first page of these statutes states: This act repealed and new act passed in 1924.

Back cover gives the postage and permit information, as well as the logo for the Civil Defence department of Canada. Below this is a hand-written note: "GB(?) Williams 10232-Wadhurst Rd Ph 448-4081." The brochure opens on the left to reveal emergency instructions in the event of a war emergency. The interior of the front cover includes the signatures of Wm. Hawrelak and H.D. Davidson. Interior includes a map of the city of Edmonton, along with an emergency route map for the city.
Pamphlet is in good condition, with only a few dirt smudges.

Pamphlet promoting prevention of communicable diseases. It contains information on the nature of germs, causes for disease, and preventative methods. It also includes a chart of the most prevalent communicable diseases and their signs, symptoms, sources of infection, and signs to seek in order to assess when it is safe to return to school. Created by the Department of Health and Public Welfare, Province of Manitoba, Winnipeg.
The pamphlet is in deteriorated condition: it has various dirt stains and shows signs of heavy wear and tear, such as strong browning and yellowing primarily along the edges, as well as consistent fading and yellowing throughout the document.

The front cover has the title: "Canada House of Commons Debates Official Report. Speeches of Mr. P.E.Wright, Member for Melfort". Below this is a b&w photograph of a man in a suit. Below the picture it reads: "C.C.F. Demands Fair Deal for Agriculture. Delivered in the House of Commons September 20 and 26, 1945." The interior of the booklet contains the speeches of P.E. Wright, given in the House of Commons, and regarding a variety of topics, including floor prices, the quota system, the Winnipeg grain exchange, export trade, etc. Booklet was printed by Edmond Cloutier, Printer to the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, in Ottawa in 1945.
Booklet is in very good condition, with only a little yellowing showing.

Below this there is a b&w photograph of a shed containing cans of an unidentified product. The top of the booklet notes: "Government of the Province of Saskatchewan - Department of Agriculture - Dairy Branch - Regina - Sask." Below the photograph it notes: "Above is cut of ice well showing 'dumb-waiter' arrangement in use on a Saskatchewan farm for keeping cream and other food products cool. Note small building over well and crank of windlass. Cleanliness and Coolness MEAN Higher Grades-Higher Prices." The interior of the booklet contains instructions on how to create and ice well, as well as an extract from Regulations Respecting the Grade Descriptions, Grade Standards, and the Grading and Purchase of Dairy Products. The back cover reads: "Ralph Bunkworth Lipton Sask."
Booklet is quite worn, with evidence of fading and some dirt smudges on the back. Edges are torn. Handwriting in pencil is evident on both front and back covers. The handwriting on the front cover is indiscernible.

Magazine is 24 pages in length and includes illustrations, and one large map. Magazine also issued in English under the title: "Canada West: Canada, the New Homeland." Both versions issued by the Dept. of the Interior.

Contains two pages, and the title reads: "Speech of His Honor Joseph Royal, Lieutenant-Governor of the North-West Territories, On Opening the First Session of the First Legislative Assembly of the North-West Territories. Regina, Wednesday, 31st October, 1888."

Report on the speech given by Edgar Dewdney. Contains two pages, and the title reads: "Speech of His Honor Edgar Dewdney, Lieutenant-Governor of the North-West Territories, On Opening the Ninth Session of the First Legislative Assembly of the North-West Territories. Regina, Friday, 14th October, 1887."
Report is in fairly good condition, though there is evidence of wear around the edges, and it has been folded three times. Slight discoloration around the edges evident.

Booklet describing the 1933 zoning by-law no.26 put into effect in Edmonton on October 10th, 1933. Cover consists of blue construction paper and contains a crest for the City of Edmonton. Interior contains 41 pages, including an index, detailing the by-law, and providing templates for appeals.

The text encourages settlement in the County of Russell and Lake Dauphin District. The cover has an advertisement for H. S. Wesbrook in Winnipeg; the Hudson’s Bay Company’s General Stores across Manitoba, North-West Territories and British Columbia; The Trust and Loan Company of Canada; and New Douglass House in Winnipeg.

Typed document titled “Extract from Report on ‘The Hudson Bay Railway Belt and Hudson Bay,’ issued from the Natural Resources Intelligence Services, Department of the Interior, 1925.” Pencilled at the top of the cover page is the name “D. W. McLachlan” who is author of the study.
Ten (10) sheets of paper are bound by two staples and two eyelets plus a third punched hole, and shows evidence of a third staple since removed. Cover shows damage along all edges, as well as sun damage.

This letter is printed on cream legal-size paper watermarked with the provincial crest. It explains that permanent residents of Alberta over twenty-one (21) with Canadian or British citizenship are eligible for a payment of $17.50 for the year 1958. Printing was done by L. S. Pamphlet titled “A Plan to Reduce Wheat Acreage and Make More Money Available for Necessary War Supplies.” Printed for the Honourable J. G. Gardiner, Minister of Agriculture, in Ottawa by Edmond Cloutier, Printer to the King’s Most Excellent Majesty. This pamphlet explains that due to the bumper wheat crops of 1939 and 1940, and the costs associated with maintaining wheat reserves in excess of predicted need, the Canadian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, will pay wheat farmers to reduce wheat acreage for the 1941 growing season. This policy is described as a temporary measure. Several example calculations are given to illustrate the compensation scheme.

Geological survey of the Twin Dome Area, Alberta prepared by the Department of Mines and Resources, Ottawa, in May 1939. Someone has written “Conrad O Hare” in pen across the top of the first page and “Twin Dome” in pencil on the back page. The survey investigates the possible presence of oil.

There is a stamp on the front cover noting it once belonged to J.A. MacDonald, City Assessor & Tax Collector, City of Edmonton.

Bears two stamps on the back side from the Supreme Court of East Assiniboia, and the Supreme Court of the N.W.T. The former from April 1901, the latter from October 1901.
Poster has been folded multiple times, is quite yellowed and stained, and shows quite a bit of wear.

There are three related documents:
1. A 15x28cm, 4 page proclamation published by the Alberta Gazette of the Ultimate Purchasers Act, which includes regulations and exceptions to the Act.
2. A 16x26cm, 4-page publication of Chapter 7 of the Ultimate Purchasers Tax Act Ultimate Purchaser’s Act.
3. A letter sized typewritten letter written by the Acting Superintendent of Sales Tax, E.M. Gunderson, outlining the recent passing of the Ultimate Purchasers Act, the impact that this has on the recipient, and the necessary steps that the recipient needs to take.

Contains a record of provincial civil defense committee meetings, exercises and significant activities, from Dec. 12, 1950 to the end of Oct. 1954. The document comprises a summary record of activities (‘Civil Defense Diary’), 50 appendices, largely containing meeting minutes, but also including some administrative records, such as personnel lists, and miscellaneous other documentation, including additional meeting minutes, organizational charts of Alberta’s civil defense organization, and progress reports on civil defense planning.
Holes on the first page have been torn, and the page is liable to fall out.

Contains editorials, stories, photographs, cartoons, and reports for the purposes of informing and entertaining base personnel. Topics that feature prominently are military life and administration, as well as sporting events.

Comprehensive report by the Army Medical Department in the United Kingdom, providing statistical information and descriptive reports on disease, mortality, sanitation and healthcare among the troops. The overall report is divided geographically, with areas covered including the British Isles, Ireland, the Mediterranean, Canada, the Caribbean, Sierra Leone and the Gold Coast, Mauritius, Ceylon and Labuan, China and Japan, and India, as well as a section devote to troops embarked on ships. For most areas, statistic appear to be for Caucasian troops only. In addition, twenty-one appendices are included, covering reports and papers, case notes, orders and administrative documentation, and statistical abstracts.
Of particular interest, in the context of the Prairie collection, is the information on Canada, from pages 62 – 67, and medical history of the Red River Expedition on pages 448 – 473.
Cover and binding is relatively flimsy; handle with care.

A brochure contain rules, set by the [Alberta] Provincial Seed Board, for various agricultural competitions in Alberta. The brochure contains rules for four divisions: Combined Seed Crops and Cleaned Seed, Local Field Croups, ‘Good Farms’, and Local Seed Fairs. A book all about the city of Winnipeg. The book was published by the Winnipeg City Council in September 1903. The book includes information about Winnipeg’s geographical position, climate, population, education, churches, commerce, and industry. Each page has several B&W photograph prints of different areas of the city. The book also includes a chart of comparative statistics about Winnipeg’s monetary assessment and population starting in 1871. In 1903 Winnipeg’s population had grown to 56,603 people.

A collection of documents relating to Bylaws 135, 136, 183, and 424 regarding "vehicles used in the conveyance of passengers for hire" as well as "vehicles used in transporting goods, wares, merchandize, or any article or thing." Includes a printing of Bylaw 183 from June 26, 1882, which repeals Bylaws 135 and 136, a printing of Bylaw 424 from October 22, 1888, which amends Bylaw 183, and two printed cards listing tariff amounts for the various types of services. All documents include a map of the "First Division" of the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Bylaw 424 (1888) is missing pieces around the edges and is rather delicate. Bylaw 183 (1882) and printed cards are in excellent condition.

A French book titled “Sols Des Prairies de L’Ouest: Leur Nature at Leur Composition” which translates in English to “Western Prairie Soils: Their Nature and their Composition.” The book was written by Frank T. Shutt, a chemist for federal experimental farms, and published in August 1910. It was published by the order of Sydney A. Fisher, Minister of Agriculture in Ottawa, Ontario. Regulations for Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Peace River Tract in British Columbia were established by Order-in-Council dated 16 Feb. 1914 and include general and specific regulations surrounding Leases for Grazing on Dominion Lands and Grazing Permits on School Lands.
Regulations for the administration of grazing lands in the Kamloops Division of the RAilway Belt in British Columbia were approved by Order-in-Council dated 13 May 1910 and include general and specific regulations surorund grazing leases. Orders-in-Council dated 4 June 1904, 5 July 1914, and 4 Sept. 1908 are rescinded.

A manuscript of a report for the Game and Fisheries Branch of the Department of Mines and Natural Resources, dated August, 1948 and compiled of data gathered in May, July, and August of 1947. The report examines the potential effects of the Manitoba Central Basin Project on the birds, fish, and "fur animals" along the Saskatchewan River, and includes information on topography, geology, soils, climate, hydrology, and vegetation, as well as a description of the project, and conclusions and recommendations. 48 b&w numbered and captioned photographs, primarily of terrain and river-related facilities and activities, have been mounted onto various pages, and a large fold out map of the Manitoba central basin is laid-in after the last page.
Many pages are discoloured but legible, some photographs are detached or loose but in good condition, map is torn along creases and is delicate and difficult to unfold without causing further damage.
