Biographical history

Dr. Margaret Mackey is a teacher, research, writer, and Professor Emerita of the University of Alberta's Faculty of Education and the School of Library and Information Studies. She received her B.A. in English from Memorial University of Newfoundland in her hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland as well as her teaching certification from the Department of Education and Science in England & Wales. In 1991 she received her Masters of Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta's School of Library and Information Studies, and in 1995 she received her Ph.D. at the University of Alberta. Dr. Margaret Mackey's research interests revolve around young people's literacy and literature, reading processes, interpretive approaches to print, graphic, digital and media texts, and commodities and merchandising for youth.
